Why are the DLCs Never on a Good Sale
I have been interested in this game for a while but not interested enough to pick it up without a good sale.

I wanted to pick it up with all its DLC (i feel the game would be very lacking without them for me) for maybe two or more years now I have been keeping an eye on the sales. But unlike other steam games, the developers seem to want to punish you for picking up the full bundle set?

I mean look at the current sale 60% off on the main game (not bad) but only 29% off on the bundle of the game with all the DLCs.

I would have thought that they would want more of your money so they would tempt you with a good bundle deal but it seems they have a different strategy in mind?

Have they always been like that or am i missing something?

We have sales pretty often, which is why we keep them at a lower percentage. On the other hand, we're doing our best to participate in seasonal sales - that's when we have bigger discounts.

Cheers!

It's not really punishing you for getting the bundle since it factors in the sale off the main game, it's just DLCs that aren't on sale which is why it has an overall lower perecent.

Honestly, the prices aren't ridiculous as they are. $10-$15 for a good bit of additional play time, new houses, etc is reasonable. They also offer two of the DLCs completely for free.

the main game is 60% off so buy just the main game to start and wait for the DLC's to go on sale themselves. Sounds like the poster is a choosing beggar and is just wants this awesome game for next to nothing. If you love the game, SUPPORT THE DEVELOPERS buy paying a reasonable amount. I've bought ever single DLC, some on sale and some not, and it has been worth every penny.

PS, I've been playing this game since 2018 and have seen it only get better and better.

60% off IS a "good sale". You could buy the main game now and wait for the DLCs to go on sale separately; that's usually what I end up doing with most games because this one isn't at all unusual in its bundle pricing structure. It is also perfectly playable without any DLC but maybe the Garden one, especially considering it has basic Workshop support and the Workshop has thousands of good items. I feel the Garden DLC is almost a must because curb appeal is an essential part of actual house flipping, but I started to play the game without it, and had fun mowing the lawn with my flame thrower, so how necessary is it? Depends on whether this really, really matters to you. Which is kinda hard to tell if you haven't played the game at all yet. I ended up buying the Garden DLC at full price, it bugged me so much that I couldn't improve the grounds around the house even in the most basic ways, *sigh*. A slave to my preconceptions. ;)

Two of the DLCs are now free (they're small but add some interesting properties). You can play for hundreds of hours without the HGTV and Luxury DLCs. Pets just came out and while its gameplay changes are important, you can put up with not moving external doors and not painting the ceilings just fine, really <<see edit below>> -- and the pets themselves don't even really fit thematically with the base game concept. The game has evolved sufficiently for these gameplay issues to be only minor constraints, unlike in the early days where you were seriously hampered in changing the layout because you couldn't change installations nor window locations.

If you were complaining about an EA game, I'd commiserate with you, but the pricing for this game is very reasonable even without sales. You get a lot of value for your buck.

Edited to add: as it turns out you don't have to buy the Pets DLC to get those gameplay changes like changing exterior doors and painting ceilings, they have been integrated into the base game (which is the way it should be; kudos to the devs).

100% Agree!

I think, many people just want to buy something, when it is "on sale"! Really dont know why! I mean, there is a product with a price, and if it is too expensive for me, i wont buy! But I would never ask for a lower price!

I have bought all the DLC since the initial game came out and to be honest with being able to add stiff through the workshop, the HD, Garden, and Pet DLC I've managed to put over 300 hours + into the game, so feel like the DLC is well worth the money as it does add more to the game, not just the jobs, but new houses, new decorations and furniture.

I know House Flipper 2 is in the works and I think is planned for release next year so I suppose there's that consideration too but I do think the DLC is worth it at the current reduced price.

Well good for you, but I don't love the game. How can I? I never played it.

I would like to give it a shot. But the base game feels incomplete to me though I just never liked the whole buy a game in installments method that some developers have.

I have over 800 games on steam alone ( I have been here for a really long time) so it's definitely not a begger being a chooser situation (which by the way, try to be less of a fanboy, no one likes fanboys). It just feels like they're trying to get u on base sale and then upsell you with DLCs when u feel like ur not getting what you wanted fully (fixing up the garden, doing more luxurious related decor and houses...etc)

Pets, HGTV, and farms DLCs are cool and whatever cuz they don't feel like they belong in base but the others?

I didn't ask for a lower price. I asked if I was missing something since it's not usually so with any other game.

And yes, I like to buy games on sale. Is that a bad thing?
