Honestly, the prices aren't ridiculous as they are. $10-$15 for a good bit of additional play time, new houses, etc is reasonable. They also offer two of the DLCs completely for free.
We have sales pretty often, which is why we keep them at a lower percentage. On the other hand, we're doing our best to participate in seasonal sales - that's when we have bigger discounts.
Cheers!
PS, I've been playing this game since 2018 and have seen it only get better and better.
Two of the DLCs are now free (they're small but add some interesting properties). You can play for hundreds of hours without the HGTV and Luxury DLCs. Pets just came out and while its gameplay changes are important, you can put up with not moving external doors and not painting the ceilings just fine, really <<see edit below>> -- and the pets themselves don't even really fit thematically with the base game concept. The game has evolved sufficiently for these gameplay issues to be only minor constraints, unlike in the early days where you were seriously hampered in changing the layout because you couldn't change installations nor window locations.
If you were complaining about an EA game, I'd commiserate with you, but the pricing for this game is very reasonable even without sales. You get a lot of value for your buck.
Edited to add: as it turns out you don't have to buy the Pets DLC to get those gameplay changes like changing exterior doors and painting ceilings, they have been integrated into the base game (which is the way it should be; kudos to the devs).
I know House Flipper 2 is in the works and I think is planned for release next year so I suppose there's that consideration too but I do think the DLC is worth it at the current reduced price.
Well good for you, but I don't love the game. How can I? I never played it.
I would like to give it a shot. But the base game feels incomplete to me though I just never liked the whole buy a game in installments method that some developers have.
I have over 800 games on steam alone ( I have been here for a really long time) so it's definitely not a begger being a chooser situation (which by the way, try to be less of a fanboy, no one likes fanboys). It just feels like they're trying to get u on base sale and then upsell you with DLCs when u feel like ur not getting what you wanted fully (fixing up the garden, doing more luxurious related decor and houses...etc)
Pets, HGTV, and farms DLCs are cool and whatever cuz they don't feel like they belong in base but the others?
And yes, I like to buy games on sale. Is that a bad thing?
