I did spam the mouse all around the pool and inside but maybe I didn't hit 'the spot.' I'll try again next time it comes up, thank you :)
Don't buy another pool or it will bug out. :)
That's how it worked for the pond I then installed on a different house....in the first case, buying the pool triggered the digging hole minigame and then when that was done, the pool was gone so there was no way to click on it to trigger the next step. I think it may be a glitch.
I think when you trigger the digging mini-game, the game will place the object in question away from where you are looking. Since I was looking towards the house when I started it, I believe that it placed the pool within the living room (the closest place that could fit the pool). I believe that I seen the red outline of the pool within the living room as confirmation of this.
Normally, this would not be a problem but with the job being part of the Garden DLC, you cannot enter the house at all to click on the pool. I would recommend that you look away from the house in this job to make the pool not spawn within the house itself.
My problem is that when it dug the hole it dug it in a position different from where I positioned the pool originally. I think it is a perspective problem because the pool is floating in the air when you try placing it and it messes with where it is actually placed. I originally thought I had it lined up perfectly with the white trim on the brick path going around the corner by the planting bed. It ended up about a foot into the path and an inch away from the white trim when placed. I was not at all happy with that.
I also had an issue buying the lounge chairs. I bought them and placed them, but it didn't count as one of the two the customer asked for. I tried a few more times. Same thing. I then tried in the grass next to the pool and it counted! There is an area for the pool, and if you try buying and placing them anywhere else in the backyard they don't count! You have been warned.
