What do you do with leftover paint? And the tools?
Did I miss some kind of inventory you can put paintbuckets in?
(and take it with you to the next job/ house)
Or is there nothing else to do but sell it?

Also. can I sell all the tools laying around my office or do I need them later?

Edit : one more question

After you buy and place something, how can you change the colour?

You sell the paint, there's nothing else you can do with it. The tools laying around the house are just there for clutter, so selling them is what you are supposed to do. Any tools in the tool menu are unlocked as you do the jobs.

What the person above me said. You can't take anything with you from job to job. You will have to purchase what you need at each site and sell anything left over (such as paint or tiles). The only thing that goes with you to each job is the tools in your menu. As for changing colors once you've purchased something and placed it, you will just have to sell what you placed and then repurchase the item in the color that you want. There is no option to change the color once it is placed.

MizMeow is only partly correct. With Items and pieces of furniture you can pick a colour, click "buy" and they will appear, attached to your cursor. As long as you don't click to place the item, you can cancel your purchase. This is especially important for wall panels/tiles/wallpaper, as they can't be sold once installed.

Tins of paint can be "previewed" like this as well. Even though some colours are so similar, you may find you need to buy the smallest pots just to test.

The above method does not work for items which require assembly, such as sinks - you just need to guess, for now.

With flooring it's very easy - apply it to one or two squares, to see what it would look like in the room without spending too much money, then repeat until you find the flooring you like.
