DEVS: Why can't we paint staircase walls?

Can any of the developers tell me why we're not allowed to paint staircase walls, and in the Alone Home we can't sell/change the bright red carpet on the stairs?

In real life, a house flipper can change anything in the house they like -- including painting staircase walls and certainly removing bright red carpet on the stairs since it likely won't go with the new interior.

Yea I know right? We also cannot remove, add, change the windows, staircase type, railings, etc. Those should be added.

or paint the ceilings, i am in the house azure shore and i can't stand the siding on the ceiling
but i think the luxury DLC will be letting u change the carpet of the stairs or maybe the walls
