Unlock certain DLC content?
I remember that there was a catch with a DLC where you had to work on or buy/sell all houses which fulfilled a certain criterium to be able to use a DLC for real.

Does that ring any bells?
I am not so sure what it was, but because I bought a DLC very late after playing the Vanilla game for a long time I was told at that time I would have to follow a certain logic to be able to get all the new stuff.

I have really no idea what it was about. Anyone?

The same rules apply to the DLC as in the base game. You have to sell each house once including the DLC houses. That being said, if you just had the base game and unlocked the ability to sell all of those houses as often as you want *before* getting a DLC, then you would still be able to sell the base game houses as often as you'd like. You'd have to then sell each house in each DLC to unlock those to sell like that. If you bought the DLC's along with the base game, I'm not positive if you have to sell all of the houses in both the base and DLCs to unlock that ability.

I searched some more and perhaps it is about that "buy/sell" each house at least once.
If I disable certain DLCs before I do that, I don't have to buy/sell so many houses to be able to buy/sell them as often as I want. Is that right?
If so... which DLCs should be enabled from the beginning and which ones should be disabled until I get that done?

To be able to buy the houses as often as you want, you do have to buy/flip/sell each house one time for this to unlock. If you own any DLC, then those houses count as well. Once you've sold each house once, then they are all available to buy anytime that you want. Honestly, I'm not sure if disabling the DLCs will stop you from having to sell each house once to unlock them all or not. I would think that might work, but you will still have to buy and sell them at some point to access everything in the DLC.

Remember, too, that you don't necessarily have to do a lot of work to sell the houses. If you just buy it, clean it, fix the major issues (such as holes in the walls), and maybe paint the place, you can sell the house and it will count. That would help you unlock the ability to sell any/all of them faster, but you won't make as much money selling them if you leave them empty. You might run out of money to be able to keep buying houses this way. I don't know. I went ahead and flipped them "properly" to get as much money as possible. It is up to you, though, as to how you want to play it. There really isn't a right or wrong way to do it.

You do not have to do anything to unlock the DLCs. You just have to buy them. When you do get them, though, there are the first few houses and/or items available initially. Each DLC requires you to do some jobs that will unlock other houses and/or items in the DLC. If I remember correctly, the jobs for the Garden DLC will show up in your email. The jobs for all of the other DLC will be under the "Map" option in your laptop. This is set up like this so that they can introduce you to the new houses, new items, and any new mechanics that they have added to the game.

Do you remember if "being able to buy/sell a house multiple times" was part of a DLC?
Or ist hat something from Vanilla which has to be unlocked?
The author of this thread has indicated that this post answers the original topic.

Thank you.... it is all so weird.
I just installed it again and I think I'll just ignore any logic and just play the game when I am in the mood for it.

Thanks!

Is that why items seemed to disappear when I installed the DLC? My office makes use of the Noah furniture which I remember from the Luxury DLC's free level, and the furniture disappeared from the home and the tablet when I turned on the DLCs.
