Custom photos or posters?

Is there any way to get custom framed photos for walls or shelves, or custom posters? I do like that I can have custom paintings but I'd really like to add custom images to the game on more than just a painting.

Both HF1 and HF2 can have custom images to choose for walls/shelves. Which game are you asking about so I can tell you how to add images?

Go to DECORATIONS, chose pictures tab, chose an empty frame item, chose "change style" tab(E).
The next screen on the right there is a "custom picture" link in the list. Click on that.

Next screen look at the top right of the images. Choose "User" tab (to the right of the Built-in tab).

If I recall correctly, you need to click on the folder icon right below "User" which will open a folder on your PC where you want to keep custom images to use. Knowing this, it's best to create a folder and fill with images you want for HF2, then at this step you locate that folder.

Once the folder is 'connected', it will populate the thumbnail pics of the folder content (just like the "built-in" tab shows. That's it.

Each time you want a custom pic, go to User and those pics will populate and be ready to place in the frame.

Additionally, if you are mid-game and decide you want a pic not in the folder, pause game, go to local folder to add image(s). Re-enter HF2, then use the "refresh" (icon under the User tab and next to the folder icon) to refresh folder's content, adding the new pictures you included in the folder during pause. It's not as complicated as it may sound. You'll get it.

HF1, I assume HF2 has it's own Steam forum.

You assume well, HF2 has its own forum.

First of all, put all the pictures you want to use in :
C:\Users\<YOURNAME>\AppData\LocalLow\Empyrean\House Flipper Game\Gallery
Then, you just have to go to the camera tab in your laptop, clic add picture and choose what you want to import.
Then you can resize and choose framed/poster ...

I'm seeing no options for images other than size and material for the back of the painting. Do you have a mod or DLC that adds an option to put the image in an actual frame that can be put on tables and such? That's what I'm looking for most.

It is included in the game. Google it and you"ll find videos 'how to' on youtube.

That is incredibly unhelpful. If Google had answers for me I wouldn't have asked here. I checked again just to be sure and I can find nothing in the game that allows the use of custom photos anywhere other than as wall paintings.

If this does exist or if there is a mod or DLC that makes it possible, I would very much like to know.

I don't think it is possible to use your own pictures in the frames that sit in tables or shelves. The frame has to be empty to add your own picture. Now, it has been a bit since I was able to play the game, but I do not remember any of those frame being empty. I believe you can only add your own pictures to the empty frames that hang on the wall, unfortunately.

You can make a custom picture that is framed and standing upright that can be placed on shelves, tables, etc by going to 'Gallery' in the in-game tablet and uploading/selecting your picture. Then just select 'FRAME' under the 'Variant' option. Then make sure the 2nd 'variant' option field is set to 'STANDARD' and not 'HANGING'.
