Oceanside Villa Windows
Do most players replace all the dirty windows in the Oceanside Villa? They can't be cleaned, so I am tempted to replace them, but worried that the steep investment would just be lost profit.

What did you choose to do for your renovation?

If the windows match and fit the style of the home I leave them and clean them. If there are mismatched windows, I replace those to match the other ones. If the windows just look old or don't fit the style I am going for, I replace them all. It's really just a personal choice. When you get ready to auction the house do some negotiations to re-coop your costs of windows or other items. But do remember if the negotiation is declined you either have to be prepared to accept what was offered or take the penalty for refusing the offer.

I should have worded that in a better way. The windows cannot be cleaned and it will cost over $20,000 to replace them all. I'm wondering what others chose to do and if they replaced them, did they feel it was worth it financially?

Dirty windows are usually opaque. If the windows are transparent and aren't broken, I leave them in.

There was only one occasion, in the Farm DLC, when I've decided to replace them. But that was because the selling tool had the word "remove" on it, instead of giving me a price when I pointed it at the windows. This usually means a feature is Supposed to be removed.

In the case of Oceanside Villa, the windows need to be cleaned or replaced. But they are not fully transparent and you cannot clean them. This house has a ton of very expensive windows; with more windows than walls. It's aesthetic is all about floor-to-ceiling windows, extending from the first floor to the second floor ceiling on two sides of the house.

As I said, I estimate it will cost well over $20,000, not including the ones I have already replaced. I can't find identical windows or sliding doors on the Store tab, so replacing them is going to be a downgrade in appearance, lol. I was just surprised because this marks the first time in my 552 hours in this game that I could not clean dirty windows. I've renovated 60-70 houses so far, so it will also be the most expensive repair I've encountered!

BTW, you can sell almost all windows in the game, whether they are dirty or not. Thanks for the replies!

I understand what you mean. Those windows are not dirty - they are just made to look "slightly old".

In my opinion, it would be crazy to replace them, because the buyers don't care about windows at all! All buyers have been around since HF was released in 2018. Window replacement has only been implemented (in all properties, including base game ones) with the release of the Luxury DLC in 2021. So you could, in theory, sell every window in the house and leave the buyers with a windowless box - they wouldn't notice!

I have another example: Have you noticed that many buyers ask for saunas and none want indoor swimming pools? Or that none ask for an outdoor swimming pool and yet everyone notices if the external walls of the house are even slightly dirty? That's because pools are expansion content, while saunas and dirt are base game.
