Second story?

Can anyone shed some light on how to build a second story to a house? I'm in building mode and have made a massive first floor, but was hoping to build a second as well. I can start another foundation on top of the first one but it won't let me extend it. What am I doing wrong??

You need to be on the roof of the first story and then use the building tool as you did for the first floor. Once you place the initial foundation on top of the first floor, you should be able to double click on the edges of it to extend it to the same size of your first story.

But notice that the game won't allow you to build if there is nothing on the floor below (no "over nothing" construction).

If I'm correct, I believe you also must have the perk that allows you to build a second floor. If you have built one building you should either have the perk already or the points to get it. If you have it then like the other posters have said, you simply must be on the second level to build there.

Yea that needs to be fixed for sure, the game needs concrete column supports so we can do that
