Tiles + paint requirement
I just did the additional luxury DLC house jobs added in the winter update. I'm super grateful for these updates, but what irks me is how pretty much every time we are supposed to do a half tile, half paint room. Like 58 Stella tiles and 80 white paint in the heavy weight house. I can never get it right and have to resort to having one wall half/half because I can't guess which wall I'm expected to do in which style.
What's more, I absolutely fail to understand the purpose behind it. Why would a bathroom or a kitchen only have some walls tiled? It just doesn't make any sense.
I would somewhat understand it if the amount of tiles is the same as the width of the kitchen counter tops, but even that doesn't match. And for bathrooms, I have absolutely never seen a bathroom that isn't tiled on every wall.
Am I the only who finds this weird?

I have given up trying to figure out what the Dev's ideas are when it comes to walls in rooms such as this. It used to drive me crazy trying to figure out how they divide them up as the numbers always seem off to me. Now, I just paint/tile the number of walls required and move on without caring too much about how it looks. I'll care more about the looks of the place when I'm flipping it on my own.

You are not alone.
Agree its puzzling and frustrates me .
What I do is either stripes or one master wall of colour then half ceiling or below the windows.
2 example 2 coloured paints required.

That's actually a really smart solution, and one that looks miles better than what I get trying to guess which wall to do what. Thanks for sharing, I hope I remember it for next time I come across a task like that. (actually, the under the window thing I might try in one of the houses I buy )

I, personally, try to imagine that I'm designing for real people, so I make sure everything is "practical". This usually means that, when a mixture of tiles and paint are required, I tile those walls that need a high resistance to moisture and heat - inside showers, behind sinks and cookers, etc.

When such a mixture is required in the living room, I usually tile the "accent walls" - behind the TV or the fireplace (where your eye is supposed to be drawn when you enter the room.

I know it's just roleplay, but 90% of the time it really helps. And the other 10% of the time, only minor adjustments are needed - a couple strips here and there.

Ditto! I'm past the caring what it looks like, but the struggle was real. ..next!

Most of the time it's actually fairly logical.

Tiles VS Drywall Which is most likely easier to clean if some fluid spills on it? Tiles of course. lower quality drywall might even be damaged if there happens to be larger amount of something wet on it, and then rubbing it trying to clean it.

Kitchen, Which wall is most likely to get splatter of something (water / ketchup / other food stuff) ? The one behind the kitchen counter of course, Therefore tiles go behind a kitchen counter

Bathroom, Which pieces of walls might get some fluids spilled on to them? The ones next to shower and sink, and near the toilet in lesser degree, Therefore those are the ares which you are most likely going to tile.

Splash zone = high tiles in the shower area while rest are 50/50

Splash zone tiles around sinks and shower, but else is painted drywall.

Living room with kitchenette, And the kitchenette wall is tiled, as there might be someone spilling water / food / other liquids that need to be cleaned up.

Same as above

Wallpaper everywhere, Except behind kitchen counter

Again kitchenette wall tiled, while none of the other walls are.

Sure nothings perfect, but you get the idea.

That is very much true, But that's just a note how I see it's supposed to be done.

yeah that thing is annoying, and its in every damn property and many of the rooms in "luxury". I cant be bothered with it so this is often how it ends up: https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=2904929220

Wish we could do half-walls though. (Paint on upper half tiles on lower, and no ,not the very few splits some tiles have)
