There was such potential for this title. It is a shame that complacency and greed have overshadowed what could have otherwise been a titan among the "simulation / reality" genre of video games.
Honestly, not allowing the creation of custom lots leaves a massive amount of revenue on the table. Unless there's some deep-seated engine problem that prevents it, I really can't fathom the logic. But it's not my call. I'd just like to hear the reason; at the very least, it'd put the whole subject to rest.
I can only speak for myself, of course, but I guess I didn't explain what I meant correctly. I'm not talking about building a house from scratch in the game, but rather for the game. House Flipper has a serious problem in that there are very few houses to work with, and several are simply reused with different contents/damage and some minor swaps like door placements. Giving the community the ability to create new properties to work on would extend the game's life and appeal.
I mentioned that some people would use it as a visualization tool simply to illustrate that there are more ways to play the game and that adding such a function would increase appeal for purchases. After all, from a distribution standpoint, why someone buys a game is pretty irrelevant next to the fact that they actually do, and maximizing the number of paying customers is, well, business in a nutshell.
I would love to be able to "add onto" the already existing house, since there have been so many times I wanted to make a house bigger or demolish certain parts of it or add or remove windows and so on.
There is no problem with the engine. It uses Unity Game Engine.
