Basement Stairs

Is it possible to change *Basement* stairs? If not that's super annoying

I have been trying to figure it out but I don't think you can. You can place additional stairs but I can't figure out a way to remove the basement ladder and hatch. So annoying!!

I just ignore the hatch and ladder and put stairs in. I have done this in a few houses: Old House with Bunker, Turtle House, Stilt House (enclosed the lower area) and others. I wanted to experiment. I gut the upper and lower floors and then play with staircase placement. I have a few videos showing the placement: Old House with Bunker and Turtle House as examples.

I have put a rug over the hatch, and enclosed the ladder / ceiling hatch in cellar/bunker in few houses.

But I have to admit that I'd love to be able to completely remove them, and all stairs in houses where you can't remove them.
