Unable to change/remove stairs in purchased house

I bought a house and moved my office to it. I'd love to move the stairs, change them, SOMETHING, but nothing happens. I have my sell gun out and point my sell gun at them and I don't get a menu nor does anything happen when I press "E". I've made sure I'm not on the stairs, and I've tried this from at the top as well as the bottom of the stairs. Any suggestions?

Moving stairs only works on most of the PET DLC houses, doesn't work on any others (Not yet anyway, this might change in an update)

As Nite69 said, moving stairs was introduced in the Pets DLC.

Changing stairs came earlier, in the Luxury DLC, so it works in that DLC, Pets DLC and the base game houses added after the Luxury release - Let it Snow and, possibly, the Castle.

In the properties that were released before that, changing and moving stairs isn't possible. I doubt that functionality will ever be added to them, because bug fixes and new content are bigger priorities.

it will be eventually, it was introduced in pets DLC it will eventually be available in earlier DLC's
