Won't recognize a dining room.
So I built a room , put 4 chairs and a table, but it's still registered as corridor instead of dining room..

Try putting a sideboard in. I don't know what DLC's you have but the first one has one called Sideboard to the Dining Room. You will find this and others Under Furniture, Living Room, then Shelves. I have all the DLC's so can't be sure which ones these come from but there is one called Emerson narrow sideboard, Dresser Andy, Cabinet glass doors Bisto (which I think they meant to put Bistro name for small cafe) Showcase Mary might work too. Give this a try. It could also be the size of the room and if it has more than one door at each end making it walk through. I had altered a house and put in extra rooms with wardrobes in for the guy that wants space for all his clothes and found even with a wardrobe in them they were not classed as one because I had made them the rooms too big.

This is sometimes a problem with the rooms and furniture! There are several (many) things which are listed f.e. in "Living Room", but they are not recongniced as such! Yesterday f.e. I did The "House on the Cliffs", and as i droped down a bed in a bedroom, one of the Buyers said "what a good idea to have 4 bedromms! Actually it was the third one! Funny things going on in the game :-)

We should be able to delimit ourselves the rooms, like in prison architect if you know
u pick a "room type" then draw a zone

Here's a google doc on room requirements i find really useful, it also contains info on getting 5 star gardens in various styles, and useful info on buyers. However, for a dining room it states you need a table and 4 chairs. As said above, some of the items don't register as they are named. Try another table and chairs to get what you want is my advice. You'll need to copy and paste the link.

If a room has more than 2 doors in it it's a corridor, no matter what you put in it. Try removing one of the doors.

Thank you for sharing the docs. These guides are, of course, available online, but It's nice to have a print-out to keep handy, and these are formatted thoughtfully to print out nicely. Bravo!
Dang... My dining room has an entryway to the kitchen, a door to a bedroom, & a closet. So it's the doors that are keeping it as a corridor?

Edit: Sure enough, the minute I deleted the wardrobe door, the room instantly converted into a dining room.

I ran across the same problem, and as LieutenantBaconWaffles said, the entrances can cause the room to be marked a corridor regardless of what you put in it. I had two large square arches and as soon as I deleted one of them, the room type changed from corridor to dining room. I zapped the other arch and called it good. Paint and lintels works just fine for the look I wanted anyways.
