how do i buy another house without selling it?

i just spent 26 boring minutes of my life cleaning and fixing a house, and now its sold, not to me but to an NPC for god sake. how do i buy a house that i can own

You earn some money first by doing the mail/other DLC's jobs then you buy the house you like and you transfert your office there (so you can sell the old office).

Like Nemesys said, you have to acatualy purchase the house.
Your limited to a selection however, to unlock DLC homes, you have to acatualy flip them.
For example:
To unlock the Yacht home from the Luxury DLC, you have to clean/flip the yacht first, then it will appear to be purchasable.

When you start the base game and, I believe, the Garden DLC, all of the houses are available for purchase one time. Once you have flipped and sold each house once, then they will be available to purchase as often as you'd like and can afford. If you want to move your office to one of those houses, you can. If you don't want to sell it, you don't have to. For the other DLCs, you have to complete a job for the house in the job to be available for purchase one time. Then, like the base game, once you have bought and sold each house once, all of the houses will be available for purchase as often as you'd like.

Redo the archived email orders they can be redone as may as you want to. Then if you buy a favoutite house dont sell it just buy another one once you have enough cash.
To visit our owned houses go to the front gate or view them in owned houses.
Unfinished jobs also availabe via the front gate of our office house.
