Question about plastering.

So I'm fixing up a flooded house right now and supposedly I'm supposed to plaster the water damaged walls. The thing is I can still paint over it regardless of whether or not I plaster the wall so I'm wondering if you get any points tacked off at auction time if you disregard plastering. I haven't run into a situation where I needed to use plaster until now and even then it doesn't appear to be necessary.

Yes they will still complain if you don't, be sure to repair any walls even if you either decide to demolish them or paint them

I think you're mistaken OP afaik any walls that require plastering will not allow you to paint over it prior to plastering.
I've bought House after flood many times and know this.
So the wall you're painting may just be dirty and have water marks.
The walls on the outside require plaster as well.
Is this one of the houses from the original HF?

It's probably that one. I believe it's a house available for purchase not relevant to the missions in the game. I don't think it's a part of any DLC since I only own the base game.

As for the dirty wall remark. That may be true as that was essentially the only thing I saw wrong with the walls but the game stated that before I could paint a wall, I would need to plaster it which I didn't do beforehand. Yet I was still able to paint over it as if it were a normal wall but still had to ability to plaster said wall despite it already being painted.

Plastering it didn't remove the paint or anything so it does still work but the fact that I was able to paint regardless of the notice made me wonder why or if plastering mattered.

Agree it sounds like a small bug for you but not game breaking, smile it will save you buying a bucket of plaster.
