You can't tear down houses in this game. You can tear down interior walls, but not exterior ones. You can change doors, but you can't move them to another location. You can change windows and, as of fairly recently, move them to a different location. But, you can't actually tear down houses or add any sort of extensions to them.
ohhh dangit :steamsad: that suckss i was totally planning to just tear down my office and make my own home. thank you for the info though i couldnt find anyone else explaining this. i hope they add that

You're welcome. The office that you start with is pretty small and unattractive. Once you start unlocking other houses, you will have the option to move your office to one of them. They are bigger and, while you still can't tear down exterior walls, you can add/remove windows and do more inside the houses. As you do the jobs via email, the house that you were working on becomes available for you to purchase, flip, and sell one time. Once you have sold all of the houses once, then they all become available for purchase as often as you'd like. Since it's been quite awhile since I was near the beginning of the game, I don't remember if the game allows you to start moving your office with the first house that you can purchase of if you have to wait until all of the houses are available. When you are at one of the houses that you are working on, you can hit the "Escape" key and it will have an option to "move your office" in the menu. So, while you can't build your own perfect building, you do have options to move to a better looking office.

@MizMeow: I'm not aware of any houses being Added to the game via email jobs specifically - it's only the map jobs in the HGTV and Luxury DLCs that do that. Basegame, Garden and Apocalypse DLC houses are in the browser from the start, you just need to have enough money to buy them.

And yes, you can move your office to another house as soon as you have the opportunity to do so - just press Esc and choose the option. No need to wait for the game to end :)

Your post is entirely accurate otherwise.

Ah....It's been a bit since I was at the beginning of the game. I've got 700+ (although I think it may be 800+ now) hours into the game, so my memory may be off. I was thinking that one started the same way with the houses as with the DLCs. Thanks for the clarification.

I have around 700 hours as well - I have restarted the game multiple times, because I enjoy the levelling process quite a bit :) Or rather, I was trying to find the most effective levelling strategy :)

I've only played under the one profile so far. However, I've been thinking of starting over. I keep thinking about those first few houses that I flipped, but didn't really know what I was doing then. I know some of the sinks I did not hook up the water. And, I know that I didn't realize that you could get the step ladder to finish putting new siding on the top of that little shack. I remember thinking how horrible it looked to just put new siding on the bottom of it and leaving the top as it was. I kept thinking, "Why would the Devs leave it like that?" LOL Now, I feel guilty that I sold terrible houses to those first few buyers. I'm glad that they haven't sued me over them. I deserved it. LOL

I know you are not a beginner, but I've posted a "House Flipper Tips" guide a few months ago. You can take a look at it, to make sure you know all the tips already :)

A revolutionary house extension mechanic will forever change your everyday renovations.

Edit: I kinda forgot this thread was about tearing houses down, not extending them... hopefully my post is somewhat good news? I guess it could mean there are modifications to the houses, so it's kiiinda relevant. Sorryyyyyyy lovelies <3

OMGG well i didnt know this!! if i could even just extend houses thatd be kinda cool, however that mechanic is supposed to work
