How do you change the stairs

In the first apartment you can change out the window frames by interacting wit them but that doesnt work with the stairs

just hold the price gun as if your going to sell, and the change menu come's up hope this helped

Point the gun with the hand and an E should show to change it. Easy peasy :)
They translate and the use of some words are not accurate , where you see change stairs you might think you have to replace them but its very easy stand on the stairs if its not triggering to press the E to change it

I keep trying to do that in the Lousy Contractor house where it says to change stairs. Nothing shows- it's not highlighted, no E comes up to indicate to do anything.
I can't change those stairs.

That might also be my mistake when I wanted to try this mechanic for the first time!
Make sure to NOT stand on the stairs while trying to edit them!
