House Themes
I long ago got bored with doing the basic “let’s design a house where someone lives” and started doing “Theme Houses” as I call them. Basically, they’re just off-the wall ideas of insanity that result in something fun/horrifying. I was wondering if anyone else likes to do these as well, and if they had any ideas of house themes. Here’s the list of my favorite creations so far:

Turned the Home Alone House into a corporate office space for an evil tech company where there’s a single shoe-box sized toilet space way down in the basement past the “security” room.

The Moon Base became a no-nonsense moon research center with air locks and weapons for the inevitable “Moon’s Haunted” discovery.

The Pink House became an “adult film industry” studio set with questionable business practices.

In one of the big houses, I made it so someone was secretly living in the walls by making the rooms just a bit smaller with secret passages around the perimeter of the house, with entrances through closets.

Right now, I’m working on turning the Unsatisfying Effect House into a post-apocalyptic home where numerous families/survivors have banded together and managed to irk out a happy living. I left the house layout pretty much the same, aside from taking the “Toilet Room” and merging it with the tiny closet room to the right of the front door (creating a small bedroom). Currently, the house has beds for 20 adults/children and 2 infant cribs, two full bathrooms, a very small office (the safe room) with a bookshelf and a computer in it, and a large kitchen/living room combination at the back of the home.

So, does anyone else do fun theme ideas? If so, I'd love to hear them and maybe give them a shot myself.

I sort of do this, but to a lesser extent. I turned Samarta Myers' house into a spa, the accountant's house into a museum, I've done a Japanese tea house, and some of the houses I just make more of a cohesive theme. I'm also in the process of making an art student loft and turning the pink house into a streamer's house (twitch gaming on the main floor, onlyfans upstairs...) XD

I have started doing that, I just got done doing a Restaurant/Bar/Mom and Pop Shops for the Split Home with the double Garage House.. Unfortunately I kept falling into the abyss while doing the flip (So fun falling through the floor when you are about to place an object.) and I didn't get to record my finished product due to not paying attention to how i have my media recorder set up... :( It was my Hardest and most impressive one I feel. Which is why I am asking them to let us upload our Flipped Homes so others can download them and take tours of them on their own. :) I am currently doing another Strange Flip so to speak forgot which House I picked but it is big enough for me to do what I want to do and so far the floor seems to still be holding me up... LOL!

This is really cool! i might try doing a shop or restaurant. i like the storylines you add to the houses. maybe use one of the bunker houses, make a quaint, unsuspecting grandma home with a secret bunker lab where they make stuff and do experiments

Me too! I have done a Nightmare Before Christmas and Alice in Wonderland themed houses :D I have seen some turned into restaurants and also a garden for a wedding that one was cool!

A restaurant sounds like a ton of fun! I'm going to try that one next! Maybe do a two story house with a shoe-box apartment above the restaurant.

This would work really well as some kind of 'story' in the game; it would help me think outside of the box (I never would've thought of doing anything like this).
