Ceiling lights are the weakest area of customisation, just in terms of range. If these were the options in a store in real life, I would walk straight out and go somewhere else.
But that's just style. Size is by far the main problem. Some of these lights would be okay if they were realistically scaled, but in normal houses with standard ceiling heights, the size and depth you have them here would be constantly colliding with my head. The photos are often ruined by the ceiling lights because they obscure so much of the view, especially if you put as many of them up as you need to in order to light a wide living room or an upstairs landing.
If we're using the maxed Ultra settings, can we have persistence of the lights, please? It's really jarring when you walk into a room that seems to be mostly dark and then all the light sources spring to life.
I'd love to see a House Flipper 2 built with a better lighting engine. I know every developer's eyes must roll when players ask for UE5, but given the number of bugs and performance problems the game currently has in Unity, perhaps it would be better? Light and shadow are always either too powerful or too weak: candles with a halo of 2cm, and some ceiling lights that throw out a spiky cast of shadows that a real light wouldn't do (or there'd be more bounced light to soften it considerably).
Most players might not see this unless they choose violence like I did and decide to paint the entire castle white (yeah, I did that, inside and out), but you need the large scaffolding to do it, particularly in the main dining hall. But that means lights are going on and off as you go up and down the scaffolding, and even while walking on the stairs in some locations. It's a weird situation because there is clearly one concession to this issue, in that you can see room lights from outside the property.
@Bowlfreak_not: thanks for the suggestion! I will try it and see which option is more bearable, but ultimately I'll probably stick with Ultra because it's not the best-looking game and I need to squeeze more eye-candy out of it where I can (and also, it feels bad to use a 3070 but Low settings!).
High five, my friend
