For those looking to fix the haunted house. *spoiler*
In the back corner of the yard, there is a tombstone and grave. You have to dig up the coffin there, which will take multiple clicks using a new "shovel" tool that you can only use here. Then, remove the coffin, and put it back in, and cover it back up.

Mine gave me a prompt about planting something so I was confused for a minute. I'm guessing they used some of the new Garden DLC functionality for this, but it's not perfect.

Be sure to check the house out though, it's pretty cool. I tried just working on it as it was but the lights flickered to the point it was hurting my eyes.

I just add pumpkins from the store, to give more light in the haunted house. It evens out the flickers. Along with the flashlight.

I ended up leaving the house haunted, & moved my office there. Its got its own built in "security" system, with Meyer's & the gnome.

I knew about the coffin & the hauntings, but i purposefully kept the place haunted so i could have a spooky office, but the basement room with the wall that appears and disappears is just permanently closed now.
I got trapped in the room while renovating it and had to return to my original office to get out and now it doesnt open at all anymore

Where do you get the haunted house? Was it just a holiday specific location?

I was trapped in that room until I pulled out the sledge hammer. Suddenly an opening appeared in the wall.

All the 'gags' in the haunted house are triggered by you looking away & then looking back at them. Some have multiple times you have to turn away & then back, but all will cycle through the various states when you turn away & then look back at them.

Also, if you look on the mini-map while down in the basement, you will see some walls are only 1x wide, which means you can demolish those walls with the sledge hammer. Any walls that are 2x wide (such as exterior walls) cannot be demolished.

Yeah, that house cost me about $13k. The stupid special effects and being night all the time made it difficult to do a renovation! So, after determining that it would always be night there and not knowing if the house was salvageable, I auctioned it off at a loss. I play this game for the renovation and decoration, not to be pranked by the devs!

All you had to do was bury the coffin in the back of the yard, all the haunting shenanigans disappear.

Oh well, I'll keep it mind for next time, thanks.
