Huh! That's nothing nowadays. Before I had to uninstall Ark, it'd gone past 100 gigs. I imagine now it might very well be over 200.

Just checked mine and it's only 613mb and I have been playing the game since day of release.

Is that what is located in your Steam files, or the save files which are in a different location?

I know where your files were, I'm referring to the poster that said theirs only took up 613 Mb. I'm assuming they were looking at the Steam files, which is pretty dang small. The player's save files are, obviously, slightly more.

Just checked mine. Got rid of all my houses, so mine's only taking up 2.17 Gb.

Devs have no respect for drive space anymore. They assume everyone has unlimited terabytes of storage and gigabit speed internet with no data caps. I have none of these. Just recently, Call of Duty pushed out a 60 gb patch. A 60 GB PATCH! So that's just how it is nowadays... well don't be surprised if I delete your game to make room for another game's patch.

I really wish more games gave us the option as to WHERE to store the saves. my C drive only has about 25GB free (it's small because it's the windows boot up SSD), where my main HDD for gaming is sitting at 700 GB free.

Oh well...

It's not the backup folder I have a problem with, that one is actually around 500mb for me. It's the main Profile folder and its subfolders that is a monster and I know it's only going to get worse. Profile 1 is my main game, while Profile 2 is just a test save with very little done. Profile 1 is over 1GB in size and the bloat appears to be mostly the "before and after" screenshots of houses and jobs. That's an insane amount of folder bloat to begin with (not quite 27gb oof), but it also makes backing up my save kinda insane, even with fast internet speed and tons of free space on Drive.

For now, I've got the entire Profiles folder synced to Drive, and I already make a hard backup to another SSD after every major play session which I'll keep doing in case Drive borks syncing for some reason. I've literally never synced anything to Drive before but this game has pretty much made it a requirement because I don't want to lose my work. Yes, I could hand-upload new in-game house/job screenshots without resorting to sync, but that's a pain since I'd have to go off time/date as they're all just randomly-numbered file names. Or, I could delete all the screenshots from the two relevant folders (CatchedTextures_BeforeSummary.dat and CatchedTextures_AfterSummary.dat) which I did try once already as a test, and the save does load fine but of course all the pics of projects are gone from the archive. I put back the relevant files and went the Drive sync route because I want a system where there's hopefully no chance of corrupting the save.
