don't turn off the light

id like to be able to keep lights on when i leave the room. id like to see what the room looks like with light while im not in it and it would be nice to be able to toggle. also, light switches don't change when you use them...also, can outdoor lamps turn on? house lights?

For the specific outdoor lamps, you have to manually turn them on. Placing indoor lamps outside... I think they just don't work?

there's a very "outdoor"-looking lamp that i put outside the front door of the house and was disappointed that it didn't have a toggle. it was the sconce-like lantern that you see on many houses IRL... don't want my virtual house to get looted by criminals cause it looks like no one is home!! SMH

I used to have that same problem with the lights. They'd go off if I left the room and come on when I went back in. I switched to an open floor plan for the LR, kitchen and dining areas, so the lights stay on. I don't care when it concerns the bed and bath rooms, because they're behind closed doors. But for the living areas, I want the lights on to see how they look together.
For the outdoor light (the one that hangs next to the door) put the cursor on it and press E. It should light. Same with table lanterns. Indoor lights, as far as I know, don't light when outside, but you can take them inside, light them, and bring them outside. Unfortunately, you have to do that every time you restart the game. Same goes for fireplaces.

Most of the things I've tried in the settings don't work, so I figure things out for myself and do what works for me. Aside from that, I personally prefer a open floor plan and enjoy knocking the walls out. What works for me might not work for everyone.

One would think that the eco option would work when it comes to the lights *shrugs* I've never had any issues with it so maybe some weird bug?

Open floor plans are neat though and I tend to go that route myself most of the time. :)

I have about 600 hours of playtime but no screenshots, unfortunately. I really suck at remembering to take screenshots but I'll make sure to do that next time I play so people can see what I've come up with. I'll even try to recreate earlier work as well that I can show off xD

I've just come out of the game. While I was playing I tried unticking the Eco lighting system and it worked for me, the lights stayed on all the time. Maybe you've got a glitch and it's worthwhile trying to verify your files.

I'd love to see some of your stuff as well. I haven't got much of an imagination and seeing other people's work gets my brain going.
