How do I turn off the effects in the Samarta Myers house?
I do enjoy the creepiness of the house (the jumpscare did get me a bit) and do appreciate the effort that went into it, but I would like to be able to turn the effects (flickering lights, warped basement vision) off to renovate it as they are giving me a headache and make it hard to work in the house. Is this already a way already implimented that I missed (like a fuse box somewhere)? I would appreciate the help because it does seem like a fun building to renovate. Thanks!

Go outside, turn right and go around the corner of the house. Walk straight towards the fence. Eventually you will find a grave site with a coffin. Bury the coffin (via the onscreen prompts) and the effects will stop as you've now broken the curse!

In spoiler mode;
It's in the room at the top of the stairs; don't know about any associated noises but it's just a person crawling backwards

I found the gnome that turns evil was scarier than the jump scare. LOL

the scariest thing in that house is how tiny the bedrooms are.

If you sell the coffin you get a really big amount of money btw

But does the curse lift? If it doesn't, I don't care how much money you get, I'm burying that sucker.

Yes the curse does go away when lifted.
I just want to say I bloody screamed... I know what a wuss, right? I wasn't expecting it at all. I came back from a break from the game, bought this house and went straight in. I turned around and the gnome was watching me... I said to myself.. Halloween house. I go up stairs and I saw the ghost and I left the game and was nope, nope, nope. The hubby laughed his a.r.s.e off at me and finished the house for me. *shivers*

Guess it's a good thing you didn't go down to the basement, then.
