Rat in the toilet

I was installing one of the newer toilets and suddenly there was a rat's head with red eyes looking at me in the basin. Was I supposed to do something?

I was just cleaning out "Uncle's Bunker" house, when I saw the rat. It was this short instant. First I thought I was just seeing things. So I sold the toilet and bought the exact same one again. But no more rat appeared. I thought it must be a glitch related to the mole or something. So I checked to see if I was the only one who had seen this thing.
But sure enough, you seem to have had the same experience.
And I bet you: The dev is going to deny it, just to have a laugh. xD

Its been there for a while now. Since they added the newer 3 "compact" toilets. One of them does it as a random occurrence every now and then. As far as I can tell its just there as a jump scare and nothing more. You don't have to do anything.

Seems I get this about 1 out 3 'compact WC Kamo' toilets on ground or basement level installs. One of the game quirks I love...

I saw one too when installing a new toilet and that gave me a mini heart-attack. I think it was a snake tho, it disappeared when I closed by mistake the toilet lid. Tbh it was a nice easter egg.

Just had this happen to me. I didn't even process it until I already installed it. Sold the toilet and reinstalled the same one twice but it didn't replicate it.

The rat is officially part of the game. It's similar to the mole in that it appears at random times, however it's rarer to see. It usually appears when one of the three toilets added to the game in the same update are installed (The Kamo one is looking the most likely for it.).

It's a black rat with red eyes that appears in the moment between when you finish installing the toilet and when the toilet lid is closed. It's a 'blink and you'll miss it' thing so it's very rare for players to be able to get screenshots of it. Which is why it's attained near cryptid status among players :D

You don't need to do anything, it will go away on its own. Congratulations! You have now joined the ranks of the players who have Sighted the Toilet Rat!

(I'll admit to being mildly surprised there isn't an achievement for it but then again it is very random.)

Super late, but kfjahksjhdf I found the rat by accident before I ran into it installing a toilet. I was putting down a new floor in an existing bathroom, and when it made everything in the room semi transparent so I could see the floor, I was VERY CONFUSED to see a black rat inside the toilet, as solid and clear as ever. flajshlkjhfa

Yup pops up every now and then, only happens with the three "compact" toilets and the new wall mounted one. Cute (although the first time I jumped) Easter egg.

I had heard about the toilet rat, but had not seen it until this past weekend playing the new DLC. (And I have about 840 hours into the game.)
