Mouse With no Scroll Wheel Issue
I have a non traditional mouse that doesn't have a scrolling option. Instead it is a basic mouse that has the track ball on top instead of a scrolling wheel. Im finding it impossible to rotate opjects because of this mouse design and I don't think buying a specific "old school" mouse would be worth it just for this game. I would request the devs to fix this issue and give a secondary way through the keyboard perhaps to rotate objects. And if im somehow missing that option please let me know. I very very badly want to play this game but the inability to properly place objects is extremely annoying.

Not trying to be rude but you can buy a mouse at walmart for less than $5 online and it can even be shipped to your house. If you can buy the game I'm sure that you can buy a $5 mouse or a better one.

Its cool Smoothie I understand what you are saying however a game should have the options to change keybindings or have the options for people who do not or cannot use a mouse. I am simply stating an oversight on the part of the Devs mostly to help them further optimize their game. Sure I can, and eventually probably will, buy a standard mouse but this would be the first game I have ever had to specifically "downgrade" a piece of equipment to play.:steamfacepalm:

It's not even about if you can get a mouse or not, but keyboard and mouse controls should be better intergrated and customizable in the future for this kind of game.

Like being an old school FPS person, E was never my "use" key, SPACEBAR was, and I'm always used to using Spacebar to open doors and use items in these kinds of games, but I don't have a way to rebind that at the moment, so muscle memory is a big argh thing for me. :protozoid:

Also not everyone's laptops for example will be in a place where you'll have much, if any room for a proper mouse, even if they own a mouse with a middle scroll wheel/button somewhere. Mine is on a stand for example with no space around it for a proper mouse [no room for it anywhere else at this time, so don't complain about that, if you don't mind :V], so doing that's out for me, even as I have a couple of mice with a scroll wheel lying around. >.>

The point is, consideration for these kinds of setups will probably benefit the devs in the future, so it's best to bring these things up in beta then wait until a more full release when it'll have them either scrambling to fix the problem or have them throw their hands up and just ignore the issues all together. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

I agree that it is very frustrating to not be able to do a main game mechanic (ie rotating) just because I don't have a scroll wheel. Yes, I could buy a mouse, but I do most of my playing on my laptop in my bed, so I only have my trackpad of my laptop.

+1 on this. I use an ergonomic trackball that has no scroll wheel, and in ten-plus years of owning it I've never missed that feature until now. And my laptop, of course, has none at all.

YES to this! I'm alsways using my laptop with just the touchpad and it has always worked just fine for everything. It's so frustrating that there is no easy option to rotate and place objects/furniture if you don't have a mouse with a wheel. So annoying!

Maybe there's a scroll wheel emulator option in your mouse settings?

Yea $5 for a crappy one, ya better off buying a quality mouse such as a Logitech MX518, its $50 New and I found a used one for $25 at the time of purchase

Since the emulator option would be enabled by Windows, it should work in every program. While my mouse does have a scroll wheel, it isn't a standard scroll wheel either. It's possible to tilt it either left or right, but I'd have to specifically enable the feature. While the option is there, I've never enabled it simply because I've never had the urge to use it, but if I did, it would work in every program because it's enabled by the operating system. While your trackball might work in the programs you use, that isn't the same thing as enabling a scroll wheel emulator. Enabling a scroll wheel emulation should just lock the trackball to only sense vertical movement, since basically all a trackball is, is an omnidirectional scroll wheel. Unless, of course, what you actually mean is that you ONLY have a trackball and your mouse isn't moved around to move around.

Hmm. It SOUNDS like it should work. You might open your Logitech Gaming Software and see what kind of options it provides for scroll wheel functionality. Maybe there's a software lock-down option for the scroll wheel button. It'd be kind of a pain locking and unlocking it every time you play this game, but at least you'd be able to play it.
