Rotate 90 degrees on Mac?

I play on PC and can rotate items using shift + scroll. However, my wife plays on Mac and is instructed to use the same key macro (shift + scroll) but it doesn't do anything.

Does anyone know how to rotate items flush 90 degrees on a Mac?
