House Flipper

House Flipper

Ez a téma zárolásra került
City = asset flip
Well, city around our home or job place looks like the same used in Rat Simulator and Dead Purge Outbreak (+ some other asset flips).
Nice job dews, you made the mechanics about building and cleaning but everything else you just purchased on some kind of asset store :)

// Edit

So, many defenders decided to use their chest to wash developers from their shame.
I decided to edit this post and show a bit more. Some people seems to do not understand how big part of the game isn't made by devs and was just copy+pasted into the game without any effort.

The only thing made by developers themselfs is the Car Mechanic Simulator "engine"

Use Google to check out images and screenshots from games like RAT SIMULATOR and DEAD PURGE OUTBREAK. You will see the same world as used in House Flipper. The same houses that you are working in ;-)

The whole world around our home, houses that we are working in, cars, objects, tress around are bought for 60 bucks.

Now, the brave defenders of House Fli... ehkh ehkh ehkh... Asset Flipper, try to remove everything that was bought online from this game. What do you see? Your sledgehammer, some stains on walls, cockroaches and user interface. Your house from outside and whole world around it is black, because it was removed.

And yes. You paid around 18 bucks for the game where authors used world bought for 60 bucks. Some brave defenders said authors worked 1 year on House Flipper... Now set this in opposition to the fact that they have already used an old Car Mechanic Simulator "engine" with ready-made assets.
What did they do in this game themselves? Almost nothing.

you were dropped as a baby many times eh?:steamfacepalm::steammocking:
Breaking News: Suburban Street looks like Suburban Street! More at ten!

Breaking news, the same city with the same cars was used in many other games.

Car and it's plates are the best example :D
I guess you are proud that you noticed? It's kind of irrelevent. Using assets is perfectly acceptable if the gameplay is enjoyable (and I am enjoying it).
It can't be true that half of the game around you is used in other games and we can simply buy these assets online :-)

Re-using assets is a good way to save money and time, whether or not it impacts the immersion or exp from one game to the next is up for the people to decide :dungeonsaxe:

*Disclamer i re-used this dungeon axe on several occaisions
Well, it's quite not ethical if you are using half of the game made by someone else, overpricing "yout job" and using fake screenshots in Steam shop ;)

But... if people like to be pumped in the back hole, that's their choice.
So far the publisher was notified about re-using textures and answered that they will talk about that with "devs".
We will see what will happen next. But, that's none of my business :)
How is the game otherwise?

Even if the game is good, it does show the sadness of game industry and how consumers care about it.
Imagine, If developers buy a pack of assets for 60 euro, then 4 people who bought this game can completely cover the cost of it. It's kinda big game, 8k people at the same time is not a small amount, right? It's LAZINESS or from other view - just smart thinking, cause 95% of players won't notice or simply don't care about it anyway (examples above).

I imagine the gaming industry in few years, almsot every game has the same houses, cars, skies, textures, models, sounds etc. :steamfacepalm:

Does it really matter? Your saying it likes it a bad thing. The assets are good, and its up to the creator of the assets on how he wants them used. If they are put on the store, with a set price and the terms of this game followed them. Then there is nothing wrong with it. The creator of the content is clearly getting a good ammount of money if a lot of games are using his assets. So the creator is getting his share of what he asked for.
Well the devs could have spent X amount of weeks creating their own backgrounds from scratch or they could buy premade assets and spend those X amounts of weeks improving the game mechanics and fixing bugs. I know which one I'd rather they do. (thats fixing bugs and improving mechanics btw)

Don't be silly. It's mostly just some indie developers who do this. Mostly ones which don't have artists so they use pre-made assets and maybe put in a few on their own, so the developers can concentrate on actually developing the game.

I mean it's quite common for indie devs. Even games like Rimworld used assets from other games or engines. Kerbal Space Program uses music that is royalty free and which they just downloaded from some website, at least some of the themes.

For anything bigger than small indie devs it's very unlikely that assets will get re-used. Because once a development studio has actual artists among them, there is no need to use any generic assets.
If you could image music producers like Metro Boomin, TM88, who bought music samples for 10 euros and then made few milion dollars by making 3 beats using them and selling it it would clearly that they are either lazy or don't respect listeners.

It's the same with gaming, if you are just starting out, you are somehow justified to use some assets. But if you are a known company, who has many games developed, many thousands of copies sold then it's pretty sad and that is the whole point about it.

We have simple anal plug here.

Game isn't advanced, right? Right.
It was made on the same idea and workaround like other mechanics-like games, right? Right.
They bought at last 1 asset pack that contains whole world of this game, right? Right.
We don't have any source that could show that they use more than 1, right? Right.
It costs 18€ when the assets used in this game costs maybe 100€ max, right? Right.

Costs of making such game are low, because probably the game is working on the same workaround or engine like many others mechanics simulators clones.
This situation shows how easy devs are plumbing players back hole.

There's no problem if some companies are using loyality free music, some textures, scripts or something.

until

it's not big part of whole game. If you can't even see that something is bought/used/copied that's good, but here... here... we have whole world, buildings and objects used in the game.
Something that you can clearly see in other games and on asset stores.
just to stir the pot a bit (lol) if you haven't seen the game House Party... This game has pretty much all the placeable objects that were in that game.. Tv's, couchs, even laundry baskets... Just an FYI
