also be sure to set the autosave to 30 minutes, default is 3 minutes, this will cut down on the stutter
I thought the ECO option is made for bad PCs, not meant as a default setting?
Also autosaves have nothing to do with the issue. It's not lag caused by saving, it's microstutters caused by moving, regardless of if a save is being made or not.
//edit: tried it nonetheless, but it doesn't change a thing about the stutters. Even everything set to ultra low settings the stutter occurs. I hope this is enough to prove that it's not an issue on the side of the user, but an issue with the game or its engine itself.
If I just use my mouse to turn the camera, everything is smooth as expected.
But as soon as you walk forward and turn the camera at the same time, there is a large amount of stuttering that doesn't make any sense. I've tried flipping around settings, but this appears to be an omnipresent feature of the movement. On far away structures, this doesn't matter that much. But in a game about walking around in a room and grabbing stuff, this is really problematic.
Welcome to the club.
We are trying to get the devs attention for 2,5 years in serveral threads now. In the beginning they were active on the forums but ignored all threads about it. Then 2 years ago they finally responded with something like: "We are aware of the issue and have forwarded it to the dev team" .. But after that nothing happened.
I gave up a long time ago. It's probably not even that they don't care, they are just unable to fix it in the current engine.
It's just really hard to tell what are the exact causes, and there might be multiple of those which makes it even harder. At the moment we're testing out what kind of configurations this problem appears on. Will keep you informed here if we find something new.
Cheers!
Which is a bit surprising cause I had the issue on my "old" PC with core i7 4790K / GTX 1080, and I have the same issue now on AMD Ryzen 9 3900X / GTX 2080Ti (all other components were also completely replaced). I sent complete system/debug/log info from the old PC back when I originally reported the issue per email in May 2020. If it would help sharing my current setup, I could send another email.
The only common "ingredient" between these two systems is my 165Hz monitor. It might very well be that the game just doesn't follow monitor refresh rate (again, only while moving ingame, standing still and moving cursor around doesn't show any issues) on monitors above regular 60Hz.
I uploaded 2K video to youtube, one could clearly see the "chopinness" there https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1IiAkctQGT0&feature=youtu.be
why is there no vsync option?
Have you tried setting the FPS limiter to vertical synchronisation?
