Periodically is usually when new jobs starts or work begins for the day, etc. Just random things.
It's not just you. The automation thing is pretty non-intuitive, to me at least.
My question is, if I use automation (which I surely want to do) can I (how do I) tell my cart which market to sell to? Does the AI choose the market with the best price, or the nearest, or randomly select one?
Also I didn't see an option to tell an automated woodcutter to NOT sell at all but just store it. I can accomplish this by turning auto off, but then my employee (spouse in this case) stops working and just wanders around.
Is there no simple way to automate the PRODUCTION but not the delivery/selling?
I'm lost. Likely it's incredibly easy and I'm just not getting it. And the tutorial didn't clear things up for me, either because I missed something, or I'm too dense to understand it.
Ideally I would like to select my character, right click the cart, have my char pick it up and at that point have the cart behave identically to a backpack. That is, I can move things in and out of it in the same way, I can travel with it to wherever I want, just like a backpack, and I sell from it or add things to it, just like a backpack.
I'm sure the dev has a reason for doing it in the way it's done, but boy howdy is it a royal pain the arse to use. Maybe consider making generic carts that can be assigned (and unassigned, or reassigned by the player) to any given business of any sort?
All good though. Anyway - If you don’t want to sell your items just set the “load cart” option to never. And the cart will never be loaded.
The market they sell to is the one that is going to net the highest return.
You can use the cart exactly like a backpack. Buy a cart at your house, or use an existing one at a business, assign yourself to it, and then with the cart selected move to wherever you want. While hauling you can easily trade between it and yourself as well.
You can even take a cart to a fruit tree or the ocean, set it down and harvest while transferring the received goods to the cart. You can do pretty much anything you want with it.
You can even upgrade to a horse cart, climb on the back, and then ride your cart around, again while easily moving items between yourself and the cart.
Yes, I knew the thread was old, but the issue seemed relevant. Perhaps not. Will avoid necromancy forthwith. :D
Great! I knew I was overlooking something simple.
You get a lot of control back over buying, selling, and restocking.
Thanks, I can use all the tips I can get. At this point however, I am unable to obtain a shed. The few vacant lots available to build one are miles away from my wood cutter. :(
I assume that would make the time/energy budget prohibitively inefficient.
Are you able to post a screenshot of the automation setup?
The shed is not full.
Source: Market (though no ingredients are needed. I have also set this to "Shed" to see if that helps, but it doesn't.
DO NOT BUY
Send Items: Shed
When Transporting: Periodically
If Business doesn't need: Market (Can't change this).
Now I have noticed that if I send a cart to "Offload and return home" while it is next to its home, it will dump all goods immediately at home and stay. But If I move the cart away from its home, the "Offload and return" works. I mention this because a market is in the direct path of my cart and the shed. I am wondering if carts sometimes dump at the nearest available point for some reason.
EDIT: Also, will there be a way to specify which shed to auto dump at?
Yeah I just watched my cart pass the nearest market, and my shed, to go to another town to sell goods. My shed is in the same town as my corral. Only a couple seconds away.
