Caravan sales prices
I sent a caravan with 300 firewood to the place where firewood is highly demanded. When the caravan finally came back, I received only 1800 gold. This is very disappointing and not worth the long waiting time and absence of cart. I could have easily sold on my map for prices between 8 and 9 gold/firewood all the time, which would result at least in 2400 gold.

I mean if firewood is in demand on your current map and nets good prices then sell it on your current map. I'll look at the prices, but they're not always going to be better than selling locally if that item is in demand locally.

I know it's bot supposed to be "too good". But as it is now the Caravan mechanic doesn't seem worth it. Your cart will be absent a long long time, especially when playing longer days, and you don't know what price you will get. It's seems like it's always smarter to sell in local map, either to a market or to a travelling merchant.

Caravan could be useful if there were products that you cannot get locally or can only get small amounts (honey, baby) and products you cannot even sell locally (tar! tar! tar!), but which would yield a nice profit when sold at the correct moment.

I don't even expect the caravan prices for "highly demanded goods" to be higher than on local map, but equal. Now they are considerably lower. IMHO "highly demanded goods" (+ long waiting time) suggests that the best normal local price is paid for it, which in case of firewood is 8 or 9 gold.

@Boogey: I absolutely agree with your first statement. About the second (get products which are hardly available locally): I've given up trying this because what caravans bring back from their travels are randomly chosen goods which most of the time are not those I needed and was hoping for. But this feature could be very interesting in the future when it will be refined.

Tweak tweak tweak. I've now tweaked some things a bit not sure if will make a desirable difference tho. Is live in the beta build along with a bunch of other stuff.

Brilliant, that is fast! Will try now. BTW, to which branch should I stick in the future: beta or hotfix?

My firewood caravan just returned and I confirm now it's definitely worth the effort and waiting time :-) Next I will try with fish, hopefully this also will become a pleasant surprise :-)

Great. You can switch tl beta and I'll remove hotfix.

Great, I'm glad.

I'm happy too. Yes I'm on beta now and will remain there as advised. The beta which installed today works very good again for me. The motions lags of yesterday are gone. And while I played with it for some time already, the Hire Workers lists do not become empty any more after a while, requiring restarts, as it was yesterday. The only small remaining issue is that a few people still do not show up in the Hire Workers lists (as explained earlier).

Not all people will show up in the hire worker list for a few reasons. If you own a wilderness building (eg trading post along the road) only people who live within a certain distance will show up unless you have a relationship of 75 or higher with them. There are a lot of rules that dictate what people will show up and why.

Hrm you know what. To save confusion I'm going to make it so everyone without a job shows in the hire window and then block them out if unhireable and state the reasons.

Great idea!

The new "Show Unhirable" option in "Hire Workers" pane is great! Makes it so much easier to understand. And it improves possibilities to find new workers a lot. Thank you!
