Can you choose the Compatibility mode of your ss2.exe?
the Compatibility box is greyed out for my .exe, as well as the "HIGH DPI scaling override option".
I believe it's not the game but the windows somehow recognize the .exe incorrectly and making it run in 16:9 aspect ratio instead of the normal 4:3.
16:9 aspect ratio should not even be supported by the original ss2 game.
On the right you can see 4 basic scaling modes, the 2 that are useful here are: "Aspect ratio" and "No scaling"
If you choose "Aspect ratio" option, the game window will be stretched as much as possible without changing the aspect ratio.
If you choose "No scaling" option, the game will not be stretched and will be displayed just like how it was 20 years ago.:)
Underneath it is another setting called "Perform scaling on:"
You MUST choose "GPU" here for the scaling setting to take effect in Sudden strike games.
The "Override the scaling mode set by games and programs" option does nothing, so you don't have to worry about it.
I temprary had to exchange my main Monitor from a 16:10 (native) to a 16:9 (native) display ratio one and suddenly the game speed was always super fast, although the only thing changed seemed to be the display-resolution in WIn 10.
In the Nvidia control panel the unchanged 2nd screen was in "Full Screen" option, while the changed one, where the game is running on, was in "Aspect ratio" ("Seitenverhältnis" in DE).
After changing it to "No Scaling" ("keine Skalierung" in DE) or aswell to "Full Screen" ("Vollbild" in DE), the game speed was back to it's previous normal and playable settings.
I found this quite odd :-)
