SS1 and SS2 Sound Fix

I found a fix for No sounds Sudden Strike 1 gold and Sudden Strike 2 gold.


For Sudden Strike 1 gold, Go to 'Steam\steamapps\common\Sudden Strike Gold', The rename (GAME.EXE) to (game.exe).


For Sudden Strike 2 gold. Go to 'Steam\steamapps\common\Sudden Strike 2 Gold', Open folder 'code', Then open folder 'Release'. Rename (game.exe) to (GAME.EXE)

1. Open Registry

2. PATH:

A1. Click on the Folder PropertyStore and Save/ Extract the Folder

A2. Delete the "PropertyStore" completly in the registry

A3. Run Game. Now you can hear Video and Briefing-Sounds.

A4. Close Game from Main-Menue without starting a game!

A5. A new PropertyStore Folder in Registry was created.

A6. Also some new keys in there was created too.

A7. On my Computer it called: "641c96ce_0"

A9. In this Folder there exist 4 files called default, 3, 4 and 5

A10. Edit binary file "3" by mouse double click and look to the second line:

0000 04 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 ........ first line
0008 00 00 80 3F 00 00 00 00 ........ second line --> correctly: 80 3F
0010 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 ........ third line
0018 fourth line

Check it! The line must called: 0008 00 00 80 3F 00 00 00 00 ........

A11. Close editor window of binary file called "3"

A12. Right Click on the Folder: "641c96ce_0"

A13. Set new authorizations: set user "AudioSrv" to "do not read"

B1. Search for an key with path: ...Sudden Strike Gold\game_exe.exe... like this:

TIP: You can also use the registry search option:

- klick on the "PropertyStore" Folder

- open search menue with STRG(CTRL) + F
- search for: game_exe.exe
- only set data search

- you can also find the folders and Keys for:

Sudden Strike Resource War and Sudden Strike 2 Gold by pressing F3 (keep looking)



B2. On my Computer it called: "641c96ce_0"

B3. In this folder there exist a second folder.

On my computer it called: "{219ED5A0-9CBF-4F3A-B927-37C9E5C5F14F}"

B4. Open binary file "3" by mouse double click and look to the second line:

0000 04 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 ........ first line
0008 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 ........ second line <--- wrong binary code!
0010 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 ........ third line
0018 fourth line

B5. You must set correct binary code now to:

0008 00 00 80 3F 00 00 00 00 ........

B6. The result of binary file "3" looks like this now:

0000 04 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 ........ first line
0008 00 00 80 3F 00 00 00 00 ........ second line --> correctly: 80 3F
0010 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 ........ third line
0018 fourth line


B7. Close editor window of binary file called "3"

B8. Right Click on the Folder: "641c96ce_0"

B9. Set new authorizations: set user "AudioSrv" to "do not read"

3. Go to the Main-Folder of Sudden Strike Gold:

4. Create a link to the Startdadei "game_exe.exe" in the main directory

5. Edit link that the game is running in compatibility mode, Windows XP Service Pack 3

6. Now start game as usual via Steam / alternatively via link

7. Now Game Sound works right in all times.

The same steps can also use for

- Sudden Strike Resource War and
- Sudden Strike 2 Gold!

Step general 4 is a little bit different.
You must set the link with compatibillity mode into the folder who is game_exe.exe file:

A) For Sudden Strike Resource War: \Sudden Strike Resource War\code\Release

B) For Sudden Strike 2 Gold: \Sudden Strike 2 Gold\code\Release


The Ways A or B are the same! By B you do not delete to many notes in registry.

If you have understand the steps for Sudden Strike Gold the rest would be very easy!
