Game resolution problem, unplayable

Most of the screen lies outside my monitor, cannot scroll, cannot click on essential buttons,
Mouse cursor only scrools up and left, eventually get stuck in upper left corner of world map.

Windows 10 Pro 32-Bit,
Intel Core 2 Duo CPU E6850 @3.00GHz, x64 based processor.
4 GB Ram
nVidia GeForce GT 730 1920x1080 resolution.

Fixed it.
Found the GAME_EXE.EXE file.
Properties->Compatibility->Override High DPI Scaling Behavior, Scaling performed by application.
-> Disable Full Screen Optimizations

Go into Windows 10 display settings, and lower the bar for "Change the size of text, apps, and other items" down to 125% or lower, and see if that fixes it.

I also had this problem on my modern system. These settings did fix it for me. I will say the first time I made the change it did not work because of a flaw in windows such that I didn't realize there was an "Ok" button at the bottom of the window hidden behind the task bar. (I just closed the window which I guess cancelled the changes)

This worked for me. 9/2/18 Win10x64, Intel 8xxx proc, Vega 64

I dont have those options in the compatibility properties. All I have is:

Run in compatibility mode for various versions of windows,
Run in 256 colors
Run in 640 x 480 (too small)
Disable visual themse
Disable desktop comosition
Disable displat scaling on high DPI settings

I've tried these individually, does anyone have any idea of what combination might work to enable me to play SS1?

Because it's a very very good game. No idea why steam does not optimize the game to modern standards though, this should not be up to the customer to be honest.

But what can I say Steam is garbage overall so is everything else connected to steam and Valve.
