You can still summon the console in skyrim VR it's said to be on the ~ key but on my keyboard it's always on the ` key ( under the escape key which is where I believe ~ is on US keyboards ) then again I have also found console on shift # ( which is ~ on UK keyboards ) so try some combinations to see what works for you.
It has something to do with the physic engine and the graphic engine running at different speeds. And when SkyrimVR was released 90Hz was the standard for all existing headsets (old headsets just had no other option than to run at 90Hz and Bethesda did not expect this to be different ever.)
The mod HIGGS contains a side functionality to change physic engine speed, on the fly, to match the FPS. Wich fixes this problem in most of the game, but the cart ride (the cart ride does not like modded game. So everyone in the VR version of the game uses a alternative start mod, wich exchanges the intro scene with a different one.
But for unmodded SkyrimVR, just setting the refreshrate of the headset to 90Hz fixes the cart ride.
Oh alright, I haven't tried running it on 90hz lol. I will try that and feedback.
Then one day it stopped; I don't know... or recall... or can even guess what had changed. Might have been a new computer and/or Monitor; might have been when I switched to VR; I just don't know. And, of course, it could still be the 90hz thing; but I just wanted to mention I doubt it's a VR issues... just a Skyrim issue.
But should it ever happen to me again, I would love to know if the 90hz fixed the issue.
I wish Bethesta would update a game like this much popular and this good so we can enjoy it more. I have a pc that I can play it 120 fps but the 60fps cap prevents it.
90. Did you try it with 90Hz?
Also, yeah the physic engine is running at 60hz by default. Wich causes all physic based motion to look like crap (choppy)
Wich can be dealed with by either "oldschool" (2018-2020) by increasing havoc speed to 90Hz to make it look smooth. ---
Or new style (since 2021): use HIGGS. HIGGS ran in to physic problems if graphic and physic engine are not running at the same speed and the old school way fixed physic engine to 90Hz, but in moments that you can not archieve 90FPS..... physics freak out. So this problem was fixed by the mod autor, that the mod monitors the FPS and equalize the phyisc engines speed to the ACTUAL FPS, that you are running at, this very moment.
My PC is a i9-13900KF with a RTX 4090
Thats the first PC that can run my modlist without reprojeciton even on a headset with that low resolution.
I used a
i7 9700K, RTX 2080ti @ 100% supersampling and 45 FPS reprojected to 90, until recently.
Thats a problematic wish.
Question would be: is the uodate worth to deal with the problems, that this would create?
Because, if Bethesda updates SkyrimVR, this happens:
All the VR mods, that turn the game from a crappy VR port into the best VR game in existance, suddenly stop working.
Means, the game will imediately turn into a crappy game, the moment Bethesda update it. Until the modders update their mods to the updated SkyrimVR.
Problem: the mod autor of VRIK, the mod that gives you a body and holsters, has retired and that mod is very complicated, so possibly we do not get an update for this. So Bethesda updating SkyrimVR could in the worst case scenario, make us lose VRIK forever.
At the other hand, we could possibly use AE content and have more than 255 plugins without merging.
But is that great enough to deal with having a crappy game for a couple weeks and possibly lose VRIK forever?
Also... FYI: There is a Mod out there that has different starts in lieu of the Helgen; I've never used it... but I know it exist.
You won't have anymore after you had once at beginning anyways XD but I just didn't return to play the game. My hype is too gone to even start the game rn.
What's VRIK?
