One of the easiest starting points will be either the use of Vortex (Nexus), or Mod Organizer 2. I would recommend checking out the FUS modpack, as it's a great baseline pack that gives you plenty of nice visuals and a solid base to build off if you're interesting in adding your own flavor to it. Or if you think you have the horsepower, Mad God's Overhaul 3.6.2, I just installed it myself and I'm gonna check it out shortly.

MGO 3.6.2 - https://www.wabbajack.org/modlist/Mad_Gods_Overhaul/MadGodsOverhaul

There's an NSFW version you can also find on the page.

Best part about MO2? It uses Root Builder and virtually* installs your mods at launch, keeping your entire Skyrim folder shiny and new.
GREAT! let me know how MGO goes, because i believe most of the collections don-t work properly right? if so i Guess ill go with FUS
FUS vs MGO – Which VR Wabbajack list should you use?
(Updated June 2025)

If you're new to Skyrim VR modding and unsure whether to go with FUS or Mad God’s Overhaul (MGO), here’s a breakdown to help you choose what fits your needs and hardware best.

If you're new or want something reliable: FUS is your best friend.
If you're chasing an immersive, cinematic Skyrim VR: MGO is the beast – but feed it good hardware!

Happy modding, and may your frame rate be ever in your favor! 🧙‍♂️✨

So MGO has been great so far. I've run VRAMr to reduce texture size and still retain good quality, and although the load times can be long, the framerate in-game is surprisingly smooth, although I had an odd drop in the starting dungeon with Live Another Life. I also added another 100+ mods of my own curated collection to make it mine. Currently sitting at 2073 mods (250 esp/esm and 1823 esl). I also have an alternative Heavy-ish FUS install, more for testing purposes. Still trying to figure out if the extra shiny things are worth it.

In the end though, you're looking at less eye-candy and overall graphical fidelity versus just as good with better framerates, but if you have a beast of a rig like VR DaD, MGO is a no-brainer.

Fistandantilus said it way better than I could. Nice breakdown!
you can get any mod from special edition. as far as i know.,
Thank you Fistandandilus for your clear explanation.
So, maybe i can use this thread to ask for a recommendation. I stil don´t own Skyrim VR, but im considering getting it, as got the Meta Quest 3 few days ago, and already playing HL Alyx, VTOL VR, Elite Dangerous and and No Mans Sky.

Is the difference huge enough as to try to push the hardware for MGO?

So wich mod "pack" woudl you recommend to me, and how to install?

Thanks.
Apologies for my late response, but I've been knee deep in messing with all different modpacks. You have a very similar setup to my own, albeit Nvidia vs AMD (7700 & 7800XT), but I'd give a crack at the FUS modpack as a solid baseline. However over on their Discord, it's a very active community and there are multiple forks that build off of FUS quite well, I'm currently messing with The Crew VR, but note it IS NSFW, as is the fork of that by Lenny, Nordic Adventures. I have TC further heavily modded with roughly 300 extra mods, and it's... mostly stable :P - I stuck with mostly new followers and quests so I didn't have to worry about rebuilding DYNDOLOD (LOD rebuilder to reflect new worldspaces/lands)

They also have Auriel's Dream and Tempus Maledictum, which respectively are light and bright and heavy hitter modpacks, with the latter weighing in at ~500GB. But the nice thing is, as long as you have the space, you can install all of them if your heart desires, as they don't install into the game folder, but a virtual folder upon launch of the game using RootBuilder.

If you wish to try MGO, just know it is heavy, and your rig will struggle, as did mine. You have 4GB less VRAM to boot, so that is a tighter window for optimal performance. Stick SteamVR to 100%, and use the included VRPerfKit to reduce resolution further for upscaling improvements (I think all packs include it as an option). Most also include OpenComposite support, which works best with the direct Oculus runtime or Virtual Desktop.

If you have anymore questions, I'll try to catch them here, but swing on by the FUS Discord (which includes all the above but MGO, they have their own) and there are a plethora of peeps there who are quite knowledgeable, include heavyweights Cangar and Kvitekvist.

Also VR Dad on Youtube shows off many of the packs and their respective performance. He's got a 4090, so ratchet down your expectations from there :)
First, take 5-10 mods from the nexus specifically for VR that fix physics and various shortcomings and basically the game is ready.

You can safely take almost all the mods from SE. Remember that animations are useless for you if they are not for NPCs and the VR version is much more gluttonous and the main thing is not to overdo it with mods for beauty and textures. Just keep in mind that DLL and SCSE have their own versions for VR and some large mods need their own fixes.
P.S. I downloaded the minimum build for VR (to see how it works) and threw in my favorite and familiar mods from SE
