Yes LOTD works.
I would recommend looking into a mod pack for vr. I am a long time skyrim player, but I recently picked up a vr headset to play ms fightsim24, so I decided to give skyrim vr a try. I am about a month in now, so you can take my experience for what it is worth
I am using the mad god overhaul and installed it using the wabbajack installer. Was pretty much the easiest modding experience that I've had playing this game. It does brings my 4090 to its knees, but WOW!!!! Not exactly the most stable thing out there(compared to my regular version), but did I mention WOW!!!
As far as any of your "must haves" in the way of player houses etc, I have to keep them low in the load order to keep the jank down to a minimum. Most of them seem to work though. There are a few mods that I haven't been able to get to work (or work properly), but I think it is a fnis issue, and I am now using Nemisis.(in the modpack)
You kinda have to be careful not when choosing mods as mods with ae required content wont work. Some mods have VR specific variants. I have read that ae content CAN be brought in, but is a bit of work and requires some skills. I may try it in the future, but fishing is one that I miss the most, and I've read that will not work properly no matter what.
Also remember that skyrim vr came out before esl files, so you will need a mod for that. The wabbajack that I used took care of all of that for me, which is why I recommend starting in that route. It also set up mo2, generated all the lods, got nemisis running. All I had to do is add a few of my favorite houses, followers, and some armour and clothes(run bodyslide) and I was ready to go.
Don't do it if you are freaked out by giant spiders, sabrecats or bears :)
Am I missing out? Is there a way to get that stuff on VR?
