Just want to ask the community! Ive seen some reviews, seems like its a good vr port WITH MODS, but just kinda want to get a feel on what you guys think. Would you recommend as a top 10 vr game?

It a huge pile of garbage even with mods.
i think its great.

it has the issues the original had but mods really improve things.

wasn't the biggest fan of the vanilla game but I'm having fun with this version using the ultimate VR essentials pack on wabbajack + PLANCK. its still buggy and janky but its probably the best way to play skyrim now thanks to the modding community carrying it

With mods, it is THE most immersive, wonderful experience I have had in the past year owning a VR headset. I ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ love it.

It's great with mods, but your vr headset needs to have enough juice to support them. So if you're with a Vive or Rifts, or anything not quest, I'd recommend it. If that's the case than hit me up. I have quite a few good suggestions on how to make your game look great.

I use a quest 2 with like, 15 heavy duty mods. I can stream this game at a very high/smooth frame rate. What ever do you mean? Also, it's more so based on your computer gfx card etc vs the actual headset. Quest 2 runs every VR game flawlessly for me using a 3060 ti computer build. Some jank when streaming certain games, but that is due to my slightly older cpu.

Pretty much agree that Skyrim VR is currently the best VR game experience with the caveat that it absolutely needs to be modded.

Short list of bare bones core mods + Whatever their dependencies are.
VRIK
HIGGS
PLANCK

Where you go from there is up to you but I would not even touch this game without those.

So far I've been trying to play with the VR essential mods (vrik, higgs, planck) and it's absolute hell. Running into incomprehensible bugs from mod installation ("skse is not installed", even though it is), leading to ignoring the warning eventually and the mod working as intended.

The horse carriage intro will be (hilariously) buggy AF and make you think you did something wrong.

Pressing Continue instead of "Load Game", causes all my controller buttons to unbind. Needs a restart to fix.

The default controller binds objectively suck to begin with.

Every other restart of the game doesn't actually launch the game, only fix is to reboot the friggin' PC.

It really is a chore to play all around. I only recommend it if you have the time and passion to do so.

Its been so long since I played the standard intro that I totally forgot,

https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrimspecialedition/mods/18223

Realms of Lorkhan is also IMO a sanity saving mod along with the related "Unbound" quest fix. Not sure if there are other alternate start mods that work with VR but it was the first I came across that specifically stated that it did and it does.

The standard intro to the game is just so jaink (even without mods) and particularly maddening when you're first trying to get mods to play nice and end up playing it potentially dozens+ of times.

Very true, I wish I could disagree but initially getting this game modded and stable can be a srs pain. But if you can manage it, it really has the "wow this is what I wanted VR to be" dungeon crawling awesomeness. That even newer games that are specifically crafted for VR just aren't hitting yet.

I refunded it. Sorry boys, thank you for the tips and thoughts, but since "I don't have the time and passion" to do so, I simply couldn't handle:

Feel free to recommend more alternative stuff like this. (other than ofc Blade & Sorcery)

The moment someone releases a Skyrim-like RPG with the physics engine of Blade and Sorcery, I am gone from the real world. See you in six months....

Very unengaging as a vanilla experience.
Best experience ever as modded.

Will it drain your sanity and soul trying to make it work with mods and fiddle with the performance settings at the ini files? Probably yes.
Is it worth it? If you're looking for a game that has so many different mods, so you can tailor it to your tastes? Heck yes.

With mods on board, there is not a single game that is 1 step closer to what Skyrim VR can be.
It solds me just being able to be that "looting cleptomaniac", and being able to create my own collections of hq texture/pretty shader stuff. But then, you can actually use that money to buy houses, hire people, buy stuff and improve yourself.. basically, it is a game forged in dreams.. until you get a CTD and now you honestly hate it.

So, getting back to the question about "top 10 vr games" - I'd say Skyrim VR is top 1 in the type of games it represents. Only given you're willing to spend some time getting a hand in modding, through. You'll need mods if you want the best performance and lack of bugs, anyway, sooo...
