Darker Nights Without Mods

why wouldn't you just mod it up

Unless you know how to do it through the ini file (and I don't think you could without making everything dark) you're better with a Mod. I play with the ini a bit and I can't see a way. Darker Nights does a pretty decent job in my game.

Why don't you want to use Darker Nights?

It's the achievements I'm after (yes, yes I know!) I had a fully modded version, including the mod that was supposed to unlock the achievements, but it didn't work. So I thought I'd go back and bang through it in 'normal' mode. and try to change a few things that way. I'd be perfectly happy with only darker nights, and that's it.

I haven't had any problems with the achievements enabler mod (using Vortex). I would rather try and get it to work than play the whole game unmodded, though. I mean, I wouldn't even consider playing skyrim unmodded... It's probably a load order or skse conflict. Did you install skse for the vr version?
