Conjuration Archer build for VR
Reasons why this playstyle is amazing in VR:

1) Infinite bound arrows. You can shoot as fast as you can physically manipulate the bow, so running out of regular arrows might be an issue.

2) The glowing arrows look amazing especially in dark places, sticking out of wood where you missed and sticking out of enemies.

3) I always wanted to do this in 2D Skyrim but even with mods to make bound bow better, it just felt meh and I eventually caved and started using actual bows. For some reason in VR, summoning the bow makes me feel powerful and I'm really enjoying it.

4) Since you will be leveling conjuration, you can absolutely use the Dremora Lord or any other summons whenever you want. Sometimes I do this, sometimes I go without a summon and stealth kill enemies. Both playstyles are great and I alternate them.

5) The archery perk that slows time by 50% is amazing in VR. Doing it as a mage just feels more realistic.

MODS THAT WORK:

1) More Bound Arrows for Bound Bow: This is not necessary but in VR you can shoot so fast, you might actually run out of bound arrows, then you have to resummon your bow. Not the end of the world, but I like this mod.

2) Bound Bow Duration: You keep your bound bow for 24 hours. I like this especially with 10,000 bound arrows from the other mod.

3) Acquisitive Soul Gems: This keeps your expensive soul gems from being wasted with a weak soul... important since every enemy will have soul bound auto cast on them.

4) Bound Armory Extravaganza: The bound bow starts off powerful AF, but as the game goes along, it doesnt scale. This mod fixes it. The more perks in Conjuration, the stronger your bow gets. Also scales with your max mana, which makes you pick between more damage or more health when leveling up.

5) Bound Elemental Arrows: I loved this mod but decided it was too much switching back and forth. It gives you elemental arrow spells. It works and its fun, but its a little wonky for VR. I would definitely try it, but I'm not playing with it right now. If you never summon pets, then that would reduce the switching back and forth to pretty much nothing, and then it would probably be perfect for you.

6) Enchant Bound Weapons: Adds new enchantments so you can make armor that increases your bound weapon damage.

Obviously max out Archery and Conjuration for this build. Then do whatever else ya want.

I use a similar build but no enhancement mods and play on legendary. More of a challenge. I strive for a refined glass bow with 2 grand souls bound to it for draining health, stamina and magic. I use smaller soul gems to replenish. In this build you also have to develop enchanting and Light Armor smithing trees.

might try conjured bow after reading this. I've just been going stealth archer so far. Loving it, but been thinking of getting into a branch of magic soon now that I've almost maxed stealth and archery. I wlil say, ammo has not been an issue though, and I've been leveling enchantment so my bows have been awesome. Just chop wood and make your own arrows and you have nearly an infinite supply... i just default to iron arrows since they're cheap, with higher end arrows for bosses, but with the archery speed in game, iron has been fine. I have like 1500 of them on me at all times.

Great Idea! I did'nt know about the conjured bow but its now on my list for sure. I tried the scoped bow mod but ended up removing it as I shoot way better without it. Over 60 hours in quivr got me used to it lol.

Im going with a stealth archer with the bound bow too. I love the theme of summoning a bow, and it looks amazing in VR.

The bow can't be taken away, so if you get all your gear confiscated you can still cast the weapon (so long as your mana pool is sufficient without relying on gear).

You can also get the bound bow at level 1 if you follow this useful guide:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EyypnNgeYNs

Basically the video shows you how to find the spell book, and also get a necromancers amulet which gives you mana, which helps a lot when the mana requirements to cast the bound bow are quite high for a starting character.

Any mods or INI tweaks for bow physics you can recommend?
Playing in December 2021 and Bound Weapons Extravaganza DOES NOT WORK
