Best TAA settings?
I am looking for the sweet-spot between too much blurriness (default TAA On) and too much flickering in the distance (TAA Off).

Is it possible to tweak the TAA just like it was possible in Fallout VR? Some say tweaking the TAA settings in the ini doesn't change anything so you have to tweak it everytime you launch the game via console to make it really work!? Is that true?

If not which settings would be a good sweet-spot between too much bluriness and too much flickering and how do I apply them permanently?

Thanks alot guys!

i've it off but no flickering in the distance. You should modify distant objects Level of Detail? maybe max it / upgrade it with a mod but honestly if it does it with TAA off its to prevent going below 90 frames.

Try Bilago's INI tweaking tool and search for AA in the menu.

https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrimspecialedition/mods/16242

Not a mod but makes tweaking any INI settings a breeze as also list the original values if you mess something up.

I haven't settled on any conclusive numbers for the TXAA yet so you'll need to check Reddit to experiment with settings that users there have posted.

I tried to mimic my settings from F4VR but it was still way too blurry. I mostly run with the TXAA off but the aliasing during the day is pretty bad. Looks lovely at night so I'm in two minds whether to leave it off or not.

I’ve taa and dynamic res off with ss at max. Looks great and no flickering. But I had to disable a texture mod when it introduced flickering. The original textures were optimized for this game is likely the reason why. Other mods like flora and fauna work fine.

Max SS as in 500% in the Syeam VR tray? That's 3381 x 3557 pixels, at 90 fps, Twice!?
Or max ingame slider?

Ingame. Actually, I don’t see it in steam vr settings anymore. I have it at 2.0 in the SteamVR overlay though.

Steam has a new way of setting it using the desktop widget that appears upon loading VR.
Under "Video" there's a box to un-check to get it back to manual override, the way it used to be but it now sets this automatically depending on your GPU.
Then there's another tab for "applications" where you can go in and add to the previous multiplier on a game by game basis so you can create a profile for each game.
Then there's the slider ingame which multiplies it again.

I've been tweaking all these up and down for a week but yet to decide which version is the most efficient between Steam and/or ingame.

Ohhh, guess I missed the update. I’ll check when I get home. Wonder if it’s also stacking the SteamVR overlay ss. If it is, I’m running 2 x max (ingame) x whatever is in the video section.

The flickering is in no way as bad as it was in Fallout. But when looking at distant trees (I am using the 3D trees mod) all those leafs cause some flickering....

I only notice the flickering (aka aliasing) when I stand completely still and the Tamriel sunshine is bright. When moving, fighting, at night or in dungeons, I don't notice it at all. I think I prefer TXAA off entirely with the SS at 220% steam 50% game(on a 1080ti)

What us Vive guys need is a method similar to Oculus where no matter where you dial in the SS, it shows you what the final render output is. Currently there's way too many places to set SS and is not really that intuitive for a new user to figure out. I've had my Vive two years and this is getting more complicated instead of simplified. If only every developer used the tools for rendering that Valve provided - and used in The Lab - then we wouldn't need to tweak anything as it renders according to GPU power vs 90fps. Still one of the best looking titles available but developers continue to ignore Valve's toolkit.

I haven't been able to fix a setting for FAA but in the console it seems that typing "taa hf x.xxx" where x is a number works. I have set a batch file which when executed sets that to 0.5000 which is a balance. The lower the number the more flickering. Try 0.6000 to 1.000 and see if any of that suits.

My batch file is a simple text file called 'aa.txt' which is dropped into the main SkyrimVR folder and executed by typing 'bat aa' in the console.

Currently it contains the following:

taa hf 0.5000
taa ps 0.675
taa po 0.675
taa sharp 1.000
taa lf 0.5000

I just tried the tweaker tool and modified the different TAA values. Then I did the export and now I have a new SkyrimVR.ini in themain folder (wasn't there before) in which you can find my new values for TAA PostOverlay and TAA PostSharpen.

I am pretty happy with the results although I am not totally sure those values are loaded. It could be I am just imagining it's working.....!?

OFF. Use resolution scaling and/or texture mods to make things look better. TAA is the FXAA of this game, terrible blurry fuzzy mess.

Tried TAA off, and nice and clear...
...However: the edges of objects get all shiny/shimmery, which I find distracting and somewhat nauseating after a while. Running at 200% SS in Steam, with quality textures (Vivid Landscapes, Noble Skyrim, etc). Especially noticeable around things like the stick fences, etc. Any way to fix this without turning TAA back on?

I like the 2017 4K textures. But for me, with or without those, also running at 200% SS, I can just stand somehwere, anywhere, and turn TAA on and OFF in the game and it looks noticeably better and sharper with it off. The only time I ever see any type fickering is on snow on mountains. That may be something else entirely though, haven't had time to try to debug that one.
