Does "Skyrim 2020 Parallax by Pfuscher" texture mod work in Skyrim VR?
I just got my Skyrim VR and like everyone else, I modded my Skyrim VR using Vortex and so far, all the other mods which I installed seems to be working fine. I also installed "Skyrim 2020 Parallax by Pfuscher" successfully, but I'm not sure I'm seeing any difference in the game between that and vanilla textures. The textures still look pretty low res and muddy, definitely nothing like what he showed in his comparison video between this texture pack vs vanilla. I'm wondering if anyone has installed "Skyrim 2020 Parallax by Pfuscher" texture mod and actually noticed a difference in Skyrim VR.

The textures I installed from this mod are:
Skyrim 2020 8.5 Update
Skyrim 2020 8.6 Update
Skyrim 2020 8.4.2 - 1 of 3 - Landscape
Skyrim 2020 8.4.2 - 2 of 3 - Architecture
Skyrim 2020 8.4.2 - 3 of 3 - Other

For Skyrim VR settings, I had:
Quality preset: High
Dynamic resolution: off
Supersampling: sliding to the left and right didnt make a significant noticeable difference.
Everything else is at its highest setting and/or default

My computer spec:
i9 10900k, 16gb ram, RTX 3080, 1tb NVME, HP Reverb G2

this is the comparison video Pfuscher showed:

People tried to make it work, but so far no success.

EDIT:
While we are at it: Water reflections also do not work in the VR version. But the mod "SkyVraan" that was able to fake them good enough to make water not look totaly horrible.

Thank you for your reply! At least now I know my eyes are not deceiving me. I thought why on earth does the game still look so old and low res with the texture mod installed. Now I know why. Do you mind recommending what graphic mod or mods you use to make skyrim VR look better, if any? it's a shame that parallax doesn't work. Otherwise, it would have been really stunning in VR

I use the SIRVAGG2021 modding list (plus some others). 500+ mods.

EDIT: Ok, cant link to the guide because it was rated "possibly dangerous". :-(
But I can link to the thread on reddit: https://www.reddit.com/r/skyrimvr/comments/gsy6vr/sirvagg_2020_a_new_era_guide/

There is a link to the guide inside. ;-)

I also do landscape LOD by XLODGEN and the other LOD by DYNDOLOD and Hybrid trees (3D lod instead of billboards) But I do not use an ENB atm (used one over a year but skipped it recently)

I play at 60 FPS, extrapolated to 120 FPS (Valve Index) on:
i7 9700K, RTX 2080ti, 32GB RAM

I can not keep 80 FPS with all that. Thats why I got used to play with reprojection always active.

Oh my gosh, thank you so much for that piece of information! it's a very comprehensive guide to modding specifically for Skyrim VR, what works and what not. This is going to be extremely helpful and handy. and I'd imagine I should be getting performance somewhat closer to what you are getting since my pc spec is not that far from yours. thank you once again! May I ask how do you extrapolate your fps from 60 to 120fps, or activate reprojections? I cant seem to find it anywhere in my settings. Is it something exclusive to Valve Index? I'm using HP Reverb G2, many features/specs which is similar to Index and made in collaboration with Valve

It really is insane that you need to install so many mods to make it look awesome. It takes up so much time. I'm glad I got this on sale. No way would I pay full price for the standard game they give you.

Hi Daniel, thanks for the guide that you provided. It's a huge hassle to install them and get them working correctly, but it looks absolutely phenomenal and really pays off. I'm currently at about 300+ mods installed.

Just out of curiosity, do you have Realistic Water Two installed? Does it actually work in VR? I have tried installing it multiple times, but I dont see any difference between that and vanilla water. After I installed the mod, the water in my skyrim VR still looks ugly and certainly doesnt look like what it shows in his screenshots. I have tried different settings in RWT installation but they are all the same. I even tried a couple of his previous versions (all the way down to version 2.0.0), just to see if it works in VR. they all look exactly the same as vanilla water. I even took screenshots to compare, just in case my eyes are deceiving me. Did you have it installed? does it look gorgeous like his screenshots?

You need to install both water mods.
the thing is, that the water reflections do not work in VR. Thats why Rwalistic water 2 will not look like the screenshots (these screenshots are what it looks like in a non VR version).

We only need the foam texture and the flowing animations and stuff from that mod.

Then we put fake reflections from this mod: https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrimspecialedition/mods/30571

On top.

That one creates a fake reflection, based on your current weather situation on the water. That does not look as good as the real reflections from non VR, but it looks better than vanilla water.

That mod will need a patch (that connects it to your weather mod). Its patched with "Syntesis" (the mod description tell you how to do it).

That mods screenshots will show you how the VR water will look like.

Or look at this video at 6:40

But its not the current version of it. Both RW2 and Skyvraan had updates since then. Anyways, it should look very different to vanilla water.

Once again, you managed to save the day! Actually, I did everything that you mentioned above (RW2, Skyvraan on top of that, Synthesis), as according to SIRVAGG2021. In fact, I watched the Youtube video that you sent before too and I did noticed a drastic difference, but I just don't know why. I always thought it was due to RW2, either not fully supporting VR or somehow the new version is not compatible with VR. I noticed the video was posted back in March 2020, so I reinstalled RW2 older versions prior to that date, and also trying out all the different installation settings. But no matter what I did, the water still look like garbage. After you confirmed that you got yours to work with the same mods and looks better than vanilla, only then it occurred to me that the problem could be Skyvraan. I reinstalled it with different settings in Skyvraan and tried out different things, and BANG! The water looks absolutely gorgeous now. Night and Day difference! Before this, I used all the default recommended setting by Skyvraan because SIRVAGG2021 did not mention that we had to manually set to other settings (other than the RW2 patch, which I did before). Thank you once again. Now it looks really awesome in VR!
