Skyrim VR blur/shimmering fix - Step by step guide
As we all know, by default you can either leave TAA off and put up with a horrendous amount of shimmering, or you can enable TAA but it makes everything look blurry.

There are some changes you can make to reduce the amount of TAA blurring but below is THE best way to have TAA on AND sharpen the image. There is literally no blur whatsoever.

1- In Nvidia Control Panel Set Anisotropic filtering to 16X and set Texture Filtering - Quality to High Quality for the 'The Elder Scrolls V : Skyrim VR' program

2- Via the ingame Settings menu:
- Uncheck dynamic resolution
- Check Temporal AA

3- Install 'The Sharper Eye https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrimspecialedition/mods/46999/

Just extract the contents of the 7z archive to your SkyrimVR installation directory. It includes the preset, the required shader and a custom VR-enabled Reshade build.

4 (OPTIONAL) -Install VR PFS stabilizer (I used Vortex but other mod managers should work)
https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrimspecialedition/mods/31392

In VRFpsStabilizer.ini (in Data/SKSE/Plugins), set AutoConfigEnabled=0 (this disables the FPS stabilizer function of the mod but allows the console commands in the .ini to work. if you use the FPS stabilizer mod you can keep this setting to AutoConfigEnabled=1)

[Settings]

AutoConfigEnabled=0

[DataLoaded] #Runs after the game opened and menu is loaded

taa sharp 2.285
taa lf 0
taa hf 0.8
taa po 0.45
taa ps 0

5-Supersampling can be increased if your rig can handle it. It is better to do this via steam rather than via the ingame settings. I leave mine at default. I would recommend tweaking this last and only if needed

Cheers! Yeah, this is a real game changer, getting nice crisp detailed graphics on the Quest 2.

I was getting super frustrated with that blurriness.

Can confirm this makes a good difference, but I have found that I get a sort of square of sharpness (90% of the image lets say) but the very edges of my view go back to blurry. Hard to explain but there is a very obvious line if I look up or down, left or right where the image turns from sharp to the normal blurry. This mostly happens when I am standing still, can't see if when moving

The guy who developed the fo4 CAS sharpener just released a mod for skyrimvr. Does basically the same thing but with more options and better performance.

I've followed everything in this thread and my results still haven't improved at all. I'm at the campfire/forest starting location, and everything is unbearably blurry. Quest 2 + Virtual Desktop. HL Alyx looks and plays great so the issue lays somewhere with this game.

Are you playing over VD? Also, with what GPU?

You can try as buttmuch suggested, use just 'The Sharper Eye' ( link is in his comment ). You don't need to run the console commands unless you want to.

Not sure what you mean by VD ? I am using a reverb G2 and 2080ti
*Edit* I missed that VD = Virtual Desktop. Sorry can't advise re: since I'm on a G2

Thank you sir! I am going to try this tomorrow :)

Thank you so much! It sure has made the experience way less blurry, fantastic! It does have a very slight shimmer now, which the default TAA did not have, but it's still very worth it. I am getting only a few % of shimmer from what I would get with TAA off.

I guess AMD users are outta fortune? Also your link is flagged as potentially malicious.

Thanks for the heads up. It was because of the brackets around one of the URL's. Removed and working now.

I finally got myself a link cable and that made night and day difference for image quality. It's so much sharper, still not perfect but I haven't modded anything yet.

Hasn't seemed to change much unfortunately
