Or you recommend only playing this game if you enjoy ranged combat like with magic or bow? So skyrim has all of its dlcs?
Also could u give some list of the mods you recommend or something, mostly looking for to update the graphics to a 2020 like game (if you revisit now skyrim it looks old )
It does feel awkward indeed, as it is a VR implementation while the other games were built from the ground up for VR; imagine skyrim being a fantasy fps combat wise, with few mods combat is much better but still not comparable to some other titles, while ranged and magic sort of blend in naturally let's say; having said that I do enjoy it, if you look at melee being one aspect of fighting is alright actually, it just lacks feedback when you hit.
Take a look at the famous reddit "Lightweight Lazy Mod List", has all instructions and links you need (even for performance), in general even vanilla Skyrim looks breathtaking in VR, after some modding it's simply one of the best looking games you can possibly have, just be mindful in leaving some headroom for Super Sampling, as having long distances things tend to get blurry (generally 1.2 with this list is great).

The modlist features some of EnaiSiaion gameplay mods, he is one of the most skilled Skyrim modders that has been around for a while now, the mods are very performance friendly and change the gameplay keeping it 'vanilla-like', basically improving it without changing the core concept. Natural Locomotion (now on sale, usually costs 10€/USD): Simulates walking by swinging your controllers. Makes walking and exploring much more comfortable than always using the thumbsticks. I do return to the thumbsticks in combat thought however.
Dragonborn Speaks Naturally: Voice Recognition commands and you can read the dialogue lines out loud to select.
VRIK full player Avatar: Obvious. Equip weapons to your body. Finger tracking. Greatest of them all.
Be Seated: Great mod that enhances the possibilities of sitting in many places, but more prominently allows you to sit down in inns and call the servers over to order, and allows you to order a drink like a mug of ale that is then put into your hands and you can simular drinking it by raising it to your mouth...
Realistic Mining and Chopping in VR: Does what it says, hit with pick to mine...
With these I just spent 4 full hours continuously playing this game.
Sounds like someone needs to pick a new hobby.
Skyrim is much more than that and melee does work in VR
They seem to be talking about valve index controllers which can be ironed out easy enough and with addition of mods like VRIK, CBPC and 3BBB who cares if there's a few bugs here and there? There's bugs in Special Edition and we all play that.
I played enough Skyrim as a foundation for mods that made the game closer to my ideal but if you haven't, mods open a ton of possibilities without being mandatory at all.
Aside from technical issues that have to do with the old engine and/or the Oculus/SteamVR overlapses, it's quite enjoyable unless you're fed up with VR.
