Skyrim on Oculus, can't shout

I've searched numerous sites and forums for this for days, but nothing is working.
I simply can't make my shout to work. I've gotten 2 shouts, the fus and one other, I've unlocked both with a dragonsoul, I've equipped them from the magic-menu. I've done everything I'm supposed to do, but when I press and hold the right-grip-button as instructed, nothing happens. I've pressed and held all buttons on both controllers, I've even screamed FUUUUS in the middle of my living room, but nothing works. Can anyone please help me? Is this a known bug for Skyrim VR I don't know of? I use mods, but I've also tried this without mods and it's still not working. Any help is very VERY appretiated, thanks.

right trigger shouts on oculus rift quite annoying though wish i could shout it

Yes, well it is possible to use some mods to actually shout it, I haven't tried it though. I use Dragonborn speaks naturally for talking with NPC's though, it works really great. However, shouts don't work at all for me, it's like there's no button for it. The game keeps telling me to use right-grip, but it's clearly not working. I don't even know if it's possible to go through the game without shouting?

nope , it's not. Some part's of the main questline require you to shout , such as clear skies to get to the throat of the world, and whirlwind sprint and so forth. all i know to do id try validateing your game files.

yea its tricky

once you do shoot its hard to hit anything

I dont like archery in first person for that reason....prefer hack-n-slash


but d@mn dragons made me learn it

its the middle finger button on the right controller. just press it, and if pressing doesnt work try holding it. if NEITHER of those work after several tries, make for absolute sure the same grip works in other games. also check if you're using left handed or right handed settings. beyond that, im not sure but i hope my ideas help.

Ok, I'll try this. I thought had tried to hold the trigger-button as well, but I'm not sure now. I'll give it a go, thanks. Validating my files is a good idea too, but may it mess with my mods?

yea its tricky to say the least....i had to try every possible button combination too finally draw the string back and shoot


Then on top of that i couldnt hit a d@mn thing....d@mn flying dragons, or i never would screw with it

okay, so I tried both validating the files in Steam, and I now have pressed and held both the right-grip button and right-trigger button, as well as the left ones, just in case, but still nothing is happening. I've also made sure that the controller is working in other games, and it does. So I am totally baffled by this,it seems I'm the only one having this issue too. My favorite game in VR and I can't do the one thing that the main story of the entire game relies on. That's just sad.

yea i was at my wits end when i finally found the right combo, so keep trying

you can get to the part where you need to just draw the arrow back?


yea when you there some wiierd combo on the controller draws it back and it auto releases....i cant remember what the hell the controller calls the buttons i do it by feel now

reinstall the game. make for absolute certain both grip buttons work in other games

I would reinstall the game if it weren't for my fear if having to do all the modding all over again :p I finally got it absolutely perfect with 50+ mods, the only thing not working is the shouts. Well, if nothing else works, I guess I'll have to reinstall though. I've installed a controller remapping tool though, so I will try to swap the shout button with the activate button and see if that does anything.

you dont lose your mods you just would have to go back onto vortex/nexus and confirm that you have skyrim vr installed and all the mods remain in their respective load order. ive done it plenty of times with normal skyrim and special edition, havent modded vr version yet i have yet to do it

i tried swapping the buttons on the controller, that didn't work. I tried using speech recognition to make it press the right key on the controller for me, it didn't work either. What did work, however, was pressing z on my keyboard. I did shout when i took of my VR-headset and used the keyboard, so at least I know that the function is there in the game and it isn't broken, it's just not reacting with my touch-controller. I have NO idea what's the problem at this point, I'm at my wits end here. I'm seriously considering a reinstall, but are you sure it won't touch my mods? I'm using mod manager 2.

And my controllers are indeed working perfectly fine with every other game and application I have, it just won't respond to the shout in Skyrim.

I just found out that if I go to settings and switch my main hand to left handed, I'm actually able to use shout with left trigger! It's a solution, but not one that I would want to settle with. At lest now I know that for some reason, my left trigger has been deactivated or deleted from Skyrim. How, I have no idea, but I suspect it must be a line in some ini-file somewhere that is the culprit. Do anyone have any suggestions for where I might look?
