Discount for existing Skyrim owners?
So, it would be a lovely gesture towards TES fans, if there was a reasonable discount for existing owners of Skyrim.

I've already bought it three times (yes, I'm an enabler) and would love to get the VR version, but it seems counter to the way other most other games are supported these days. More often, games are continually updated and supported, rather than released under additional SKUs.

I know it will sound tempting to squeeze a couple more $m from the title before you sunset it, but it would be lovely to take a more long-term approach and deliver this one kindess to your loyal fans!

I would wish for this too, even if the discount didn't apply to me. I would buy the base game, and then buy this. That way I could play both ways and wouldn't feel like I lost too much money in the process.

Im sure there was a meeting to discuss that, which looks like it ended with "we're for profit".

I view this as a completely new gaming experience and I am fine paying full price, after all they gave the SE version for free. The VR version will be amazing!! Pre-ordered it moments ago!!

While it would be great, doubt it. If they were going to they would have done so already before people could preorder it.

I don't mind though. Skyrim SE with all DLC in VR is worth paying full price again.

Special Edytion was free update for all Skyrym GOTY & Skyrym + all DLC owners , and Fallout 4 owners didn't have any discount for Fallout 4 VR so ... Unlikely

They didnt do it for Fallout, it wont happen for Skyrim. Also I do not believe Steam is setup for that kind of "discount" process. There is a lot of backend work (sounds wrong) that goes on with the "discount" system via Steam.

The good news is that you can pay attention to Greenman Gaming or HumbleBundle for discounts, even day 1 discounts. I purchased Fallout VR for around $45ish at Greenman when it came out. So if you know where to shop, you do not have to go with the $60 msrp.

There's no discount, this is a new product and the MSRP is 59.99. Your purchase of something half a decade ago doesnt entitle you to lifetime price reductions for the rest of Bethesda's Elder Scrolls products going forward. Sorry.

You mean like this game, which is given free to all owners, past or future, of the base game?

Too bad we don't have some way of supporting companies that do this and spurning companies that do the other thing...

If you wanna support them, grind loot boxes and sell the skins.

You mean the game I bought 18 months ago, which is the same game as this, with the addition of new input & display options...

That aside, I'm not simply speaking from of a sense of entitlement: I genuinely think that there's a benefit for the publisher to be gained for using a different business model, as many other games prove. I love the games Bethesda make, and want them to make money from them. I just disagree with their current plans.

A discount will come, you just have to add the game to your wishlist and wait for an email telling you its in a sale. In the mean time if you decide the product offered is worth the price asked then go ahead and make a purchase. This is the price point that Bethesda has determined gives them the best chance at a healthy return given the effort and current market.

There are lots of reasons why offering this as DLC for Skyrim is problematic and while it would be nice to receive a 10% steam discount voucher if you own the original game, you can already get a greater discount by shopping around different sites anyway So whats the problem? Unless you're talking something like 30-60% discount but that would have a huge impact on profits.

I suppose I'm more disappointed by the splintering of Skyrim into multiple store products, rather than offering DLC as improvements to a single title.

Some of this is more the problem of the platform itself, with newer titles looking more attractive, and getting better visibility on Steam. So, in that regard, I can't really heap too much blame on the decision to publish this way, but still think it's a bit silly asking players to reset their investments into the game each time they decide to do an update.

They already gave the remaster to everyone for free, sooooo maybe this time spend some money again.

It would be a nice gesture and im sure everyone would like one as it means less money to spend. But due to a low VR playerbase, they need every penny they can get really.

I like to think the main reason for full pricing of this and FO4 is market research, rather than milking/gouging. This is why I can pay full price for tjhe VR conversions and not cry about it too much - think of it as an investment for future VR products from Bethesda, like properly supported from the ground up VR products rather than addons to old games, surely that's worth the slight kick in the balls for these couple of experiments into openworld VR?
