Companions attacking me for no reason.
Everytime I approach whiterun, the lot that are fighting the giant turn hostile to me (running no mods, didnt hit them, even tried not doing anything at all).

I have some sweet gear so i was wondering if anyone knows of a way to fix this bug?

You're going to want to mod your game. Start with the Unofficial Skyrim Special Edition Patch--it fixes a TON of bugs and problems in the game: https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrimspecialedition/mods/266

Actually I dont, Ive played with way too many mods in the past so I just want a vanilla run though. Becides that doesnt fix my problem at hand anyway.

Do you have a bounty in Whiterun?
You could try waiting 24 ingame hours then returning to Whiterun and see if that calms them down a bit.

Or perhaps try opening the console, clicking on one of them and typing "resetAI"

Having sweet gear, I suppose you already gone around the block? What were you doing and do you have bounty in any city?

I heard having Solitude (Haafingar) bounty can set them off.

No bounties, havent even had thugs sent after me. Ive just be wondering the wilds delving into every cave/dungeon I find.

I tried waiting but that didnt work, I'll try out resetAI next.
Cheers.

Well, good luck with that then. The unofficial patch fixes the kind of stuff you're likely experiencing, which means you're going to end up having to use the console a lot and searching online for specific fixes to things that way. I understand wanting to run the game "pure", but that's what you'll get with "pure". One mod to patch the majority of the game's flaws hardly seems like a major concession, but to each their own I guess...

"Start with" does not indicate one mod, I clearly stated in the topic not running mods and as already states that mod will not fix the problem at hand. You can drop the secret knowlage fallacy.

I mentioned "start with" because there are other bug-fix patches available as well.
And how sure are you it won't fix the problem at hand? From the patch changelog, here's a sampling of some hostility fixes:
DLC1RadiantScoutHunter and DLC1RadiantScoutVampire were flagged as being in CrimeFactionWhiterun which would result in bounties for attacking them first, despite them being your enemies. (Bug #4076)
Radiant world enounters for the Companions (WERJ10, WERJ11, WERJ12) cause the involved members to get pulled out of their normal crime factions which will then cause them to become permanently hostile to player werewolves even though they are not supposed to be. (Bug #19469)
0518666A: Whiterun was missing one CWResolutionDefender marker which caused errors to crop up in the attack scripts. (Bug #14558)
Ebony Warrior (DLC2EbonyWarrior) was improperly added to CrimeFactionWhiterun. This would net you a bounty for murder in Whiterun Hold when you kill him.

Possibly something actually is in the patch that could fix your problem?

(looks like you may need to actually help them fight the giant to avoid them attacking you--this is a bug)
