Diving underwater on Vive?
I cannot figure out how to dive underwater on the Vive. Using the offhand grip Crouch function doesn't register when in water. I'm using teleport for locomotion and swimming (not the realistic swimming). I had to stop experimenting as the water current pushing me was giving a headache after an extended time. Can someone tell me what the control is?

I got to say that even with realistic motion and non-realistic swimming which IMHO gives you better control, checking a specific spot on river bottom can be massively frustrating. One quest where I needed to examine a pouch by a skeleton in the river, it took me like 20 tries to 'catch' it cause current would sweep me past it. I can't imagine how someone on teleport motion would do it if current drag is same...
Thankfully, in most places where you need to dive, water is still.

This is for that "Find Reyda's corpse" quest in Ivarstead. I'll probably try the different swimming method and see if that helps. Worst case, since there is current anyways, maybe I can turn on the gradual movement. I can't use that on land as I'll quickly wind up with a headache, but since there is current in the water perhaps it will be the same.

Yup, THAT quest.

Get in water deep enough, and lower your head IRL.

I turned on realistic swimming and tried it several times, could never get it as the current carries me past the corpse too fast that I cannot target it. It was an interesting experience. I once got down close to the corpse and then tried to target it, and the game threw me 2 miles in the air like I was hit by a giant, and I fell down and died. The next time I tried, it crashed the game. Kinda funny but I ended up with a headache. At least I see how to get underwater now. I'm going to do other stuff for a while in game, and eventually loop back to this quest. Ideally, Bethesda would make 'sneak' grip control couple as 'dive' for people who want the easier less-motion sicky controls

Well, that is weird, the getting thrown part at least. Never happened to me, but then I have realistic ragdolling mod in, wonder if it affects player too. I know the game supposed to forcibly push you away if you are about to clip into something. Do you have the Unofficial SE patch installed? It supposedlyy fixes a couple bugs in that quest.

If you want to just get it over with, you should be able to use console commands:
setstage FreeformIvarstead02 40
player.additem 663da

without realisitc sswiming, point your 2 controller down to go under water, point them up if you want to get back on surface

Thanks all for the suggestion of the commands and pointing controller 2 down. I'll give those a try when I play again next. I saved near Ivarstead so I can give it another go. Getting tossed in the air was just one of those weird Skyrim quirks; I've seen it happen in the regular version of the game before to my companions, and other monsters (and there's always the "being hit by a gian'ts club" thing).

As lame as it is, you squat down IRL and once you are under water you use the touch sensor on your left controller to move forward by pressing up. While swimming you will move in the direction you are looking. Never done the realistic swimming so I don't know how that one works.
