Where is the dog ? (Barbas, quest A daedra's best friend )

Currently i' m doing the Vile clavicus quest ( the one with the speaking dog ) .
I had told him to stay and not to follow me for a while , and after returning he was no more where i told him to stay, gone !
Where can it be ?

You should be able to just go on with the quest. He should show up at the end when he has to be there.

If he doesn’t then you may need a console command. You will need to google that because I don’t know what it is.

Perhaps if you just get on with the quest he'll be there. That's certainly how it works at the start of the quest.
