Skyrim Vr won't launch! Need help
I just bought skyrim vr and it starts up but a second later turns to a black screen and then shuts off. I can play any other game including vr games on steam just fine. I have the oculus rift and meet between the recommended and minimum settings to run it." I reinstalled skyrim, reinstalled steam, restarted my computer, vertified integritry, ran as admin, and checked if the anti-virus software was blocking it."

I did finally get it to work. I think i was a combination of reinstalling whole game again, and figuring out what mods (if you are running any) were not VR compatible. And maybe the right SKSE-VR version. I cant remember what all i did to get it to work. Sorry.

I am however still missing the NPC dog mesh. All my game dogs are invisible, and sometimes the odd dragon is too. Its actually irritating. You can hear the dog bark, and it will still get in the way, and (A) talk appears, but no visible dog. The dragons being invisible are more of a challenge. You have to strike it to see its health meter, then you know where it is and can kill it. After its been slain, it appears normally again as it should.
It does take away from enjoying the game. Must be some kind of overwrite glitch. I am just too tired to reload the whole damn thing again. Unless someone has an easy fix to share - then I would love to fix it.

I'm having this problem now, and nothing has worked.

Been all through Google, all through Steam, tried every solution I could find and nothing; it just crashes immediately.

I aways believed all these "vanilla SkyrimVR crashed imediately" kind of problems are related to new headsets like the Quest or WMR etc.

EDIT:

I played my SkyrimVR (bought 2018) on 2 different PC now with 2 different headsets and I never had this problem. :-/

Actually, I'm on Quest 2.
And I did ultimately get it to work, but I'm not 100% what I did.

Wonderfull!
Now its time to mod it. ;-D

Here is a video that compares the experience without mod vs with mods:
Spoiler: the autor thinks the game is doing ok vanilla (many think the game is just trash vanilla) but agrees that modded its just another level.

That's neat and all, but I need to be able to launch the game consistently.

When I said I got it to work, I mean twice. Out of maybe six tries.
Whatever I'm doing, it's not consistent.

If you are running the Steam VR Imput emlator branch for running Fallout VR on the Rift this will happen. You will need to go into the prefrences for Steam VR and change it back to the main branch.

May I ask how to do this I'm tryna figure it out

I deleted Skyrimprefs.ini in the "Documents/My Games/Skyrim VR" folder and added in the nvidia settings 3d preferences the executable of skyrimVR. Now works again. Hope it works for You all!

How does one add the nvidia settings 3d preferences?

I do not think that it makes any difference if you add SkyrimVR in the NVIDIA preferences. One does this if you want SkyrimVR to use other NVIDIA settings than other games. Normaly it should not make any difference if one does this or not.

(EDIT: maybe, just maybe, it makes a difference in a laptop PC, to force the NVIDIA gaming GPU to control SkyrimVR instead of the build in office program GPU. But I do not know if this is the case.

The deletation of Skyrimprefs.ini leads to that file beeing replaced by the fresh, default version of it. This can help.
