Horse riding problem
After a couple of hours i bought my first horse but its very hard to control it because the horse seems to be bound by the compass directions rather than the direction ur moving/looking so unless ur going on a straight line is very hard to control...

i do have the fix where the movement is bound to head look instead of the controller maybe thats the problem?

I found horse riding really simple and intuitive, basically it seems like if I'm holding touching forward on the touchpad I can just swing my around like I'm holding the reigns and the horse goes in that direction. I love it actually :)

For me if i push my touch stick forward the horse moves toward the compass direction north no matter what other direction i'm looking and so forth its not very intuitive

This is caused by changing the wand direction thing. If you change it back the horse will work again. Gotta pick your poison - working horse or head look. I went with working horse becuase it was too annoying.

yeah the problem with the horse riding is the fix so i'll walk for now and try to manage the horse when i cant be bothered to walk but controlling without head motion is not for me so i'll keep it on

Horse works fine for me. It moves in whatever direction your left hand moves. Head movement is separate. Move your hand left and the horse turns left, etc.

i used the "bUseWandDirectionalMovement = 0" fix to make the movement follow ur head instead of the controller and that fix makes horse behave like a twin stick shooter by following the compass direction when u move the stick instead of pressing forward to go forward and left/right to turn those ways it instead pressing forward the horse mves north and right it goest east left west and so on

Its a pain in the ass to navigate the horse but that fix is much easier to move the player and theres no inversing the movement when slightly looking down and the best of all is that its head led movement which i find much better than controller led

So you can't use bUseWandDirectionalMovement=0 and have horse controls that make sense. That's pretty crappy.

The thing is your hands end up in weird orientations if you use archery as your main form of combat, so you really need the movement fix. No horse then I guess :steamsad:

i'm using the horse with the fix... u get used to it if ur using the horse just for travel... i think that the benefit of that command for combat and just about every other situation where ur not on a horse outweighs the extra bit of effort for traveling

I notice there's a few ini settings related to horses such as fHorseHeadingMovementMult, I'll have a play with it tomorrow, see what it does.

The only issue I have is what I look like galloping on a virtual horse lol

Bethesda Jess? Feature request/bug fix. This ini change works great, except then there's no reference for touchpad press direction, just hard read of N/S/E/W, so horse difficult to control. I'm thinking the first 50ms or so of a touchpad direction press could read head direction as a reference. ie: pressing forward on touchpad re-orients the player in that direction, then stops reading head direction. That way holding the direction down and moving head no longer effects direction, free to perform horeseback archery with independent weapon/head movement, but still have reference direction control of horse direction with touchpad.
